I just drove down Vic and started smelling smoke. Freaked me out. Thought something was wrong with my car. I park and look around, and I see a huge plume of smoke happening right now. Sure hope everyone got out safely.

From the video I saw the house looked like it was fully involved and will be a total loss.

Drove down 6th about 20 minutes ago, heavy fire coming out the second floor. Looks like its a long way from being over.

Is there more than one fire around that area, right now?

There were 2 fires in the area

I lived in that house many many years ago. Was three suits in it. I was the top floor.

Where was the second one, or is this the same one that may have flaired up?

I saw a video made by one of the tenants. Apparently this is the second time their house burned down. The last time it was February 7th 2012.

There's only the one house on fire....but it will be a long night for the firefighters!

It's still going pretty bad. Almost looks worse now than earlier. I live one block over. Flames still shooting through windows and the roof. It's a total loss. Hope everyone got out and these tenants had tenant insurance.  
 
Its a very big house. They will be throwing water into it until morning at least. Looks like the roof is going to collapse soon.

Arson / Structure Fire:  
 
On Tuesday afternoon at approximately 2:30pm, a 911 call was received about a fire in the 300 block of Louise Avenue. Smoke and flames were coming out of the side of the house. Police were on the scene and made attempts to ensure the occupants were out safe. Police observed and approached a male who was staring at the fire, during their conversation, the male said he lived in the main floor suite which was on fire. The male admitted to starting the fire. Police arrested a 34yr old Brandon man for Arson. The male was lodged at BCC to appear in Court on February 06th. Still under investigation.

So unfortunate. It will be interesting to hear the reason for setting the blaze

Just curious if anyone has been by this morning. Appeared to be smoke still coming from it this morning when I looked over that way. Any photos of after?

Minus parents dropping off their kids at New Era School, I wish the city would just close Louise Ave. from 6th st. . to 5th st. instead just up to the lane just past 5th st. I've seen way too many vehicles detouring and SPEEDING north on the lane. I hope one of them hits one of the hydro poles!

I doubt that will happen and wishing for people to hit hydro poles...like really?

a few people or families have just lost their home and all their belongings. Unfortunately, the fire was started intentionally, which makes it even sadder.  
 
Do you have any idea what these families will have to go through now.....even finding a reasonable place to live will be a chore.

The amount of people speeding on that lane is asking for trouble. There's 2 hydro poles (which should of removed a long time ago) are in a perfect spot to get hit. It was bad enough for those who have parking spots on either side of the lane backing onto the lane because of speeders (mainly school parents during lunch time). It got worse since lastnight.  
 
Why again hasn't the city or police put a signal detour sign to 5th st instead of a simple taped off? If you don't live in the area or have anything going on at New Era School, one has no real good reason to be around there minus taxis.  
 
BTW, I do feel bad for those who are now displaced of the arsonist.

I understand your frustration, but I pay the exact same taxes as you do, so if I want to drive up and down that street all night, I will! If speeding is a issue down the back lane, call the police, they will put a officer there!
