what I am reading, it looks like there are many benefits to setting the clocks ahead. Here is just one of the articles I found, there are many more with the same message.
https://bestlifeonline.com/daylight-saving-time-benefits/ Another article I read supports the idea of increase in traffic crashes, heart attacks etc for the first 3 days in the spring, but tells of an initial reduction of traffic crashes, heart attacks etc when time changes back in the fall.
The often look at "Saskatchewan, they don't change" argument comes out. Well look at how the time zone line between central and mountain time comes north to just about the Canada/USA border then heads west to the west side of SK to the NWT where it heads east again to where MB, SK , NU and NWT all meet. In reality SK is always on DST.
It was mentioned on here that farther south, people make out ok with it being dark early in the evening. Well they do not have any where to steal any extra hours of useful daylight. Also many of the outdoor workers start very early in the morning to escape the heat and are done by noon or earlier. Therefore they have an extended evening of light. Some schools in Arizona start at 7:20 and out at 2:20 giving then more hours of daylight after school.
I hope MB never does away with DST time as I enjoy the longer evenings in the summer. Giving me a chance to go walking, bike riding, golfing, etc after work. All these outdoor activities that have health benefits.
