I don't get it...
3/30/2020 at 5:12 PM
Why the rant? I can't understand the OP's desire to express and share his dissatisfaction towards the city bylaw rules and enforcement. It really doesn't matter what is happening in/at/on the school property adjacent to the clearly marked street/city/public property. He saw the sign and disregarded it. ...So he pays a penalty. That's, that. It doesn't matter what he thinks... It's what the sign says, what the general knowledge of societies rules are and how they are enforced.
Here's my rant... What gives the right to any individual that the rules don't apply to them under certain circumstance? Staying on the topic of traffic and bylaws around schools, I find it appalling on the selfish justification to act like, if there happens to be an excuse that rules don't apply. If it gets cold or wet out, someone's precious might get a chill or damp, so let's park anywhere we please. Specific loading zones, bus loops, no stopping/parking areas, private spaces or even smack dab in the middle of the bloody crosswalk. DON'T WORRY FOLKS! EVERYTHING IS OKAY! ...I HAVE AN EXCUSE AND A REASON THAT ONLY APPLIES TO ONLY ME AT THIS MOMENT. ...SCREW YOU, WHAT MATTERS IS THAT THIS SITUATION SUITS ME, RIGHT NOW! This drives me crazy. I saw it almost daily in front of the school by other parents/people . Sure, let's all make the exception for that one. ...Until the next one does it and the next and the one after that because they believed the rules don't apply due to their circumstance. It's like these selfish idiots, that zoom through the 30 zone on the weekdays. These boneheads cry out their sob story that it's a "money grab or speed trap" when the city is enforcing the speed zone on those days the school is not in session. Sure buddy, you can remember all the days off of school, but you fail to understand what's written on the posted sign is the rule of law. Is it a speed trap? ...Yeah, darn tooting it is. That's why there's no excuse that you're an idiot for focusing your effort on remembering the days off school, rather than remembering that's it's a speed trap. Sitting there with a quivering lip, almost to the point of crying when telling everyone that you were either too selfish or stupid to pay attention that the law doesn't make exceptions... Makes make me to want to puke. Will having the public agree to you, re-enforce your excuses or justifications to make your actions feel right or better to you? We as the public shouldn't encourage an audience for this complaint. What ever happened to "live & learn" and say "don't do what I did"? It feels every time, more like "I'm a victim" and hear me whine for sympathy & personal justice". Sorry, I can't sympathize for the OP's parking infraction. The excuse of that the school wasn't open at during time is too pathetic. That's just as bad as saying the fire department isn't around, so I'll park in front of the hydrant. Or there's five other "handicapped spots", so I can sit or park here. "It's only for a few minutes, who's going to effect, if I don't follow?" No, you're missing the point. Rules are not there to be decided if they suit and meet your circumstances at the moment.... They're there to manage and restrict the public for that situation with no deviation to personal opinion or needs. Acknowledging the law and following the law are two different actions. Pretty simple. Learn not to do it, again.
...And spread the word of warning, not whining.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
