Since when did back alleys become a major though fare for posted detour routes,  
the me me mentality and lack of common sense for drivers now a days is severely lacking,  
 
McDonald Ave closed to all traffic excluding residents and all kinds of drivers are driving around the barricades at 26 St and 20 St and the using back alleys to get around and not use the posted routes .  
Some of these back lanes are narrow and were not designed to be used as commuter routes and have witnessed some near misses as well as high speeds ,  
simply incredible in a city this size that everyone is in such a rush that they do not have to follow the rules or signs put in place,  
reminds me of the highways and no one slows down and move over for emergency, towing and highway workers anymore either because of the lack of common sense and me me mentality now a days

The speed is excessive and the dust is unbearable. I contacted the city and as usual nothing has been done about it.

We have a busy backlane and it drives me crazy how some idiots just fly down it. It makes it dangerous for the homeowners…there’s been many near misses and a few run ins. Slow down!! Is it just me or do back lanes not have a crazy amount of blind spots?

The other day to navigate around the construction on McDonald Ave., didnt know it was closed ... so I used the south lane way to get around the area. Lots of others were doing it to and fortunately I didn't witness anyone driving at a high rate of speed.

If coming to McDonald Avenue from Andrew’s Field… the road closed signage wasn’t posted until you got to McDonald ave. It’s a real piss off to not know a road is closed until you get to it. Personally, I will 100% take the back lane if it means I have to turn around and add 5 minutes to my trip.

I am sure if the Mayor and or a city councilors property was affect and covered in gravel dust something would have been done about it in short order

The speeding is definitely not a good thing, but the back alley is as much of a public road as the street is. When i pay my city taxes, it doesn’t state which roads i can and can’t use. The dust sucks, and the speeding should be stopped, but i have as must right to use that road as anyone else.

I live near New Era school. School busses use the lane during the school year. I would think it would be pretty tight for getting onto and leaving Lorne Ave. Its really bad seeing parents drive through the lane going over 50km per hour during the lunch hour so I have to be really careful backing out of my parking spot onto the lane. I very surprised nobody has hit any of the 3 hydro poles in the middle of the lane. The lane is heavily potholed which the city half attempts to patch the broken pavement every year just for the patches to get ripped up less then a month later. Its beyond me why the city won't either just make the whole lane gravel or resurface it and have the hydro poles removed.

100% agree it’s not just during the school year, Year round speeders. In school zoned area to boot maybe it’s the way 5th street veers into 4 th street back lane but the hydro poles potholes and usage of parking that backs in the backlane (apts, and 4 plexes ). 2 major playgrounds right there. Speeding tickets could be handed out all day.
