Please to everyone, in the dark, USE the light up button on the crosswalk. I walk Patricia every morning and joggers there (2) never stop for the button just jog on through…whose fault if they get hit ??? The driver…of course.

Also bikes in the dark. There are 2 that ride on the wrong side of the street into traffic. You can’t see them until the last second. I stopped and asked them to use the bike path and all they did was flip me the bird. Bikes and pedestrians want use to respect them? So they need to respect the traffic and work together.

I think all crosswalks should have red lights at them . Everybody stops for a red light .

Crosswalks are used to cross on a normal pace, not for doddling or reading texts. Many just step out, don’t even watch, with seemingly no fear of getting hit. They just seem to assume that no car would ever hit them.  
People using crosswalks have to realize that they have responsibility for their safety as well.  
NOT just the drivers.

It is never legal to do a U-turn in a crosswalk!!! I see it all the time in this city. It's crazy! Pedestrians have a hard enough time trying to cross the street without having to watch to see if that car with the turning light on is pulling a U-turn!!

Are you sure? The highway traffic act doesn't seem to prohibit u-turns in crosswalks.

I have no idea how to wake people up about crossing at cross walks. Adults with little children confidently step off the curb into heavy traffic without even a cursory traffic check or, heaven forbid, push the activation button. No one seems to think that while they may be right, they can equally be DEAD right!

I have seen more people walking with their nose buried in their phone just step off the curb and assume that the cars are going to stop. What happened to "look both ways before you cross the street"?? The Facebooks and TikToks will still be there when you hopefully get to the other side!!

The city has by-laws that prohibit u-turns at any intersection with a traffic control device. I'm reasonably sure crosswalks count.

I did not know that this is not in the laws. I've been driving for over 30 years and I though it was law. Thanks for the correction. It's a shame...I think it should be illegal.

I think pedestrians have to take some responsibility here. I stop at crosswalks...sometimes I can't see people there because they are behind the light pole or a tree...then they stand there while I stop and can't decide which way they are going. Very frustrating. I will continue to stop but honestly...don't waste my time as well.

I was coming home from work yesterday and this guy decided to cross the street on a red light. Of course I think he was oblivious to the fact or just plain rude as he was looking at his phone the entire time but, I have to make a left of 18th and I not only missed my turning light alot of people were upset behind me. But they didn't know I had someone who decided they didn't need to follow "rules" and he was an adult

As much as drivers are getting miffed about pedestrians just "marching out" into traffic, there's also a fair amount of drivers out there that don't have the courtesy to stop when they see somepone at crosswalk, even IF the lights are flashing. We all need to work together here folks. I've lived all over Canada, and enjoy living in Brandon as they always had the best sense of community. Let's not lose that.
