Some correct points here, some not.
Harper did get rid of the long gun registry, so long guns such as shot guns, hunting rifles etc (the non-restricted ones) do not need to be registered once you buy them. You walk in, show your proper license, pay for it and walk out.
The restricted guns are still registered, and you must wait a period of time after you purchase one before you can take it home. Anyone who has a restricted PAL has a daily criminal check done, so if you get charged with something like robbery, or assault, you can bet the police will keep you on your radar and may even pay you a visit to check on your restricted guns to ensure they are stored properly. These guns can only be taken to and from a certified range to use.
So, all these issues that are arising are the results of criminals not following laws. Someone then thinks we need change and changes the laws. What does this do? Hurts law abiding citizens.
