I know this has been discussed to death!  
I pulled out on a road today in town, there was a car coming , about 2 blocks away, I am doing about 30 KM ,roads are icy and a red light ahead of me, this person in the CAB behind proceeds to lay on the horn! I wish I would have noticed the what company it was! what is everyone's hurry? I was not willing to go any faster with my wife and 3 children in the vehicle! If you get in an accident the least of your worries is being 5-10 mins late!

At times yesterday following drivers like gave me chuckles. I don't know how many people want to just idle along....sure it is icy and honestly I think MPI should have something where you have to log so many winter driving hours to get your license. I lost track of how many people on even small snow banks across the road would brake just before the drift, then either get stuck or almost stuck. It is one thing if everyone is going slow but if a car here and there is going slow that is more of a hazard itself.

some taxis seem to be in an awful hurry these last two days. I've had them tailgating me a couple of times. Nope, not speeding up just for you...it's icy...deal with it...

find annoying are drivers who pull out in front of me. No one behind me yet that driver cannot wait the extra moment for me to get past and then.pull out behind me-nope, pull out in front, forcing me to hit the brakes. Especially annoying when roads are bad. And no I do not drive a cab but yes I have honked at drivers who pull out in front of close oncoming cars.

I find those who can't wait and pull out in front of me are the ones I worry about the most! I can't just slam on my breaks without slipping and sliding on these roads and risk hitting another vehicle or a fixed o:bject! People are so impatient and inconsiderate. I really don't want to get into an accident because of someone else's stupid actions.

maybe they felt like you pulled out to close for the speed you were able to go. hard to say but if i were you i would either correct what issue annoyed them or if youre not sure dont worry about it

Fishing Guy, do you honestly think people need to drive faster in these conditions?

If you can't handle the people who are taking their time to get to their destination safely, then maybe you should stay off the road yourself. It's drivers such as yourself, who express zero patience with people driving safely, that cause more accidents than any "slow" driver would cause.

I try to stick to two lane roads in weather like this for that exact reason. Those that want to do 30km/hr down the road it makes it easy for me to pass them. Traffic hasn't been heavy at all the last few days which is nice for smooth sailing. I guess it goes both ways. If that driver with his wife, 3 kids, dog, grandmother, newborn, geesh does it matter who you are traveling with....can't handle people going faster than them then maybe they should stay off the roads them self too. Conditions are sooooo bad that why is it necessary to be taking out your whole family to go somewhere. And hey don't look at me for not helping when you want to idle down the street and then brake before a snow drift and get stuck. And I will help unstuck a vehicle if they actually make a good attempt at not getting stuck.

I don't usually accelerate to a red light to hammer on the brakes......  
The traffic on 18th was doing 40 KM/H when I was heading back home, on a side road, 30 isn't unreasonably slow.  
It is irrelevant why we were out of the house, the fact was that there was more than ample time to for me to pull out in front of the car that was 2 blocks down the road.  
I am usually the one that is going the speed limit or more in good driving conditions.  
Hell I am usually annoyed when people are not going a bit faster then the speed limit most days, my issue was/is why lay on the horn when we are proceeding to stop at a red light?

The only thing I can think of is the cab driver slammed on the brakes and began to slide and either panicked and hit the horn or hit the horn hoping you would notice he or she was sliding and move up. But who knows, just a guess. Cab drivers are an issue even on the best of days.

One thing that ticks me off is the people who drive through the bridge construction on first street and either ride your arse or even honk you, yet your going a little over the posted speed limit which is 50 km/h according to the signs posted. It's also a construction zone so speed fines double if caught. Sorry it's a little off topic, but is annoying.

Would you pull into traffic with it on coming knowing how bad the conditions are is the better question?  
 
Although that is a sickness that a lot of Brandon drivers have even in good conditions - can't wait thirty seconds for traffic to pass - must get out in front.

The car was about 600 feet down the road .... more than enough time to pull out on the city street regardless of the conditions of the road.

They actually do make new drivers log what type of conditions they drive in. They need to have so many hours doing different times of the day, gravel vs paved and I believe winter driving is another. And I agree this has been beat to death but slower driving is safer at this point as there is just soo much ice .

I had one while driving today I was on 10th near neelin school and only doing about 30 because the roads are still extremely icy and I didn't feel the need to be rushing anywhere because I didn't feel like doing a 360 or hit another car By doing 50 on these roads. But you sure felt the need to speed up and pass me on the oncoming traffic lane while there could easily of been oncoming traffic. It's funny you felt the need to honk and give me the finger. I'm sorry but this is the city not the highway you don't just pass someone on oncoming traffic just because I'm being more careful and cautious then you. Its not summer either where I'd be doing 50, and maybe You should slow down when there's ice. Driving too slow makes you just as much as a hazard on the road as someone who drives too fast. I hate the notion of driving to the road conditions because each person gets to decide what that is. Some drive too fast, others way too slow. And both feel entitled and justified.

I have never seen a driver going slower pass someone, fishtail, while giving the finger in town.

I feel the you are 100 percent right....It is post 50 kms, and it is a construction ZOOOONNNNEE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!AND TRUELY I FEEL THAT IT SHOULD BE LOWER TO 30 KMS MYSELF BECAUSE THAT IS THE KINDA WORK I DO SO...I have seen some of my fellow employees have some very close calls and have had some very rude people say things to them. Any one with a licence should have enough respect for the people that are there working to slow done...CONSTRUTION MEANS CAUTION DRIVERS SO SLOW THE F**K DOWN AND USE YOUR HEADS...I think of it is like let mean come to your work place and drive like a mad man by you while your working and see how the F**K it selfs.......... SORRY HAD TO RANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But i do give him credit for being out there helping people out that are stranded....But it looked like he was having some fun while doing it, that almost cost him his life....But he is doing well and has some broken bones but he is still alive to tell his story....

I travel through that stretch on First street atleast three or four times a day and I'd say 3/4 of the drivers don't even slow down. The police should step up enforcement on that stretch. All construction zones should be heavily enforced.

Is the way it is. Roads are built and speed limits are set for the cautious/ older driver that may not have a 20/20 vidion even in the best of light. I like driving 10 k above the limit most places althought I recognize my area of driving wether it be school, church or gathering which I do adjust my speed for. I''''ve seen drivers go 40km/hr in a 50km/hr and continue on a Sunday morning through a Church area where the area is congested still at 40-50km/hr and they truly believe that they are good drivers, lol! This is how it is. Us good drivers, those that are confident in our abilities have to drive on the same roads as the masses. So we just have to adjust our patience and accept without roadrage that it is what it is. Not everyone is born with quick response time and vision does diminish with age. Be gratefull if your one of us that can safely drive 10 k above the limit with skill and confidence, but know yhat by doing so you are making less confident drivers anxious which can be dangerous by itself. Unfortunately the government can''t build roads for good ability drivers and another highway for the less confident/ slow drivers. It is what it is!

too many rookie semi drivers on the road, I know trucking companies are having a hard time finding drivers, but sending unskilled drivers out on the road with a 100,000 pound of load behind them is dangerous. These units take a half mile to stop on ice and the drivers are driving 110 km an hour to make wages. If you see a semi tailgating you, you better find a safe place to pull over because he can't stop if you have to and you will be the loser.

everyone must drive at the speed that makes them comfortable. I know I just got a new vehicle and drove a bit slower and really made sure I was watching around me. I always give myself lots of time to get somewhere in these conditions, just in case there is that one slow driver. I prefer to get somewhere safely.

Yes the semi was traveling on closed highway...But the guy with the dash cam was strand out there but got him self out and moving but was going no wear ...He was just sitting in his truck and seen it happen....

Not according to the article. It's says in the article that the guy with the dash cam ventured out on the highway to help stranded motorist and that morning had pulled out 10 from the ditch. When the semi hit the snowmobiler, he was going to pull a car from the ditch. No where does it say he was stranded or had been in the ditch himself. Please read the article, your info is wrong.

He was not "cutting donuts" on purpose and I can tell you he was certainly not having any fun out there. The highway was extremely icy and very dangerous. Clearly you've never rode on a sled. Secondly, a skidoo can legally cross the highway. Why do you think only the truck driver was charged?? Maybe cause he was the only one at fault?!  
 
Maybe someday you will get caught in some extreme weather and maybe no one will come help you. Bet then you will think twice about criticizing someone trying to a good Samaritan.

No need for shouting and bad language. Compose yourself. There are many drivers that do watch, are respectful of construction signs and pay attention to the rules of the road. The post sounded like you are on bit of a rage. Stay cool and composed.
