Husband doesn't help out around the house....

So my new husband (got married in oct) has issues not helping clean up around the house when I ask. This morning I asked him to: put clean dishes away, take garbage out and clean our cats litter. Did he do any of the items? Nope. So my question is what do I do? I've already threatened to take away his power cord for the computer. And I just took it away. And Why do some men don't help out???
