will a cheater ever change?

my partner has cheated on my (yes i know for sure. he has admitted to it, plus i have caught him once before)
I have been faithful, however sometimes i wonder... why should i. If he can, why cant i? (even though its totally against my morals)
I do love him and i believe he loves me, we do have plans of getting married.
Every relationship he has been in he has always been unfaithful (i knew this prior to committing to him)
Would it be wrong of me to do the same?
or should i just let a cheater be a cheater? let things be?
confused... honest advise would be helpful
