Been looking for a decent man for the past 7 months.. with no luck.. what does it take to meet a good guy these days. Dating sites are useless

I do enjoy the single life. But im definetly ready to settle down im not getting any younger haha

This goes both ways and [b]SOME[/b] of us guys are "good men" but we get overlooked because we don't play the same game as players.  
 
And 7 months is not very long - don't panic.... yet!!! lol

What do you classify as a "decent guy"?

First off someone who is Loyal and trustworthy, someone w ho is not just looking for " sex " someone who has his head on his shoulders.. sorry i can go on and on lol

I agree with you. Being in your 50's and dating or trying to date is not easy that if for sure. Not giving up just yet either.

there are very few nice guys out there. Men get to see the true colors of other men when we're around them. Women don't usually get to meet this other side of men until years into a relationship. Sorry to say. Even if you think you've got a good man, he likely isn't. But there are a very few good ones out there. Good luck, ladies.

We rarely cross paths and when I do, they are almost always married, engaged or partnered.  
If you think towns and cities are difficult,  
try out in the rural area's.

Right now in our culture there is a war on men and masculinity. Men are shamed for being aggressive, bossy, forward, etc. It started in the schools and now it has trickled into our society. Just look at some of garbage posts on here saying that even if you think a guy is nice he probably isn't. Can you imagine if a guy put this predjuduce and labels on women? They would be completely shamed. The feminist teachers have told the boys they should be ashamed of their instincts and their opinions don't matter. It's the same reason trump won the election. People are tired of being told what is acceptable to think and do and are tired if never being listened to.  
 
What do you think men are going to do if they are continually told they are nothing but dogs that need to be tamed by women? They just shut down and keep to themselves and never engage women unless they want tail. Being chivalrous and aggressive used to be praised, now women don't like what they have cultivated because they think all the men out there are either whipped or a man slut. You got your whimpy men and now you decided that you don't want that, you actually want the caveman waving the torch outside the cave protecting you. Now you're just whining that you can't have both.

Do what you love to do and people with the same interests will join you.  
 
The Lions Clubs have had a number of match ups. Do you like walking the dogs at the Humane Society? There are secular choirs if you do not like the religious church choirs. There are drama groups for both on stage and behind the scenes positions. Do you know a sport well enough to coach it to children who may have single parents?  
 
I have gone back to university, not to find a guy, but to better myself. If someone special happens to click, great. In the mean time, I have learned more about myself and what I want out of life.

I have mostly given up on the whole decent guy thing, but it may be my own fault lol  
 
If you know what you're looking for, don't go on PoF but eHarmony or match.com might be good for you, I've heard they are more real relationship people on there. Good luck! I'd love to see more positive stories on here lol

No woman should ever, ever marry a guy unless he is your DREAM man! If he doesn't give you goosebumps when you're around him, and if the thought of him doesn't make you completely giddy inside, then don't marry him. Never settle for less than your dream man! Guys, that goes for you too. Only marry the woman of your DREAMS.  

i completely agree with you! i will not settle for just anybody, i would rather be alone than with someone who i dont have that feeling with!

these days are married to low-lifes who would rather play video games than spend quality time with their wife and kids. SMH. my wife and kids are the focus of my attention when I'm at home. Throw your man's xbox out the window if he'd rather be with it than you. Male, late-thirties

I can relate to your struggle. I'm a slightly shy, early thirties guy having the same issue. I find it rather difficult to meet someone genuine with similar interests these days. PM me if you're interested in chatting at all

When I was looking I made a list of qualities i was looking for, not to specific just some guidelines for myself so i didn't get trapped with a loser lowlife again.  
 
Met my bf through my mom actually right close to home and he met all my criteria  
 
We've now been together for almost 4 years and work everyday together!

May be hard to find but there are decent guys out there for sure. Not all us guys are the same. Meeting people is hard enough let alone finding the right person. 35 and pretty much giving up on finding someone, but not saying you should give up :-)
