What is the number to call to report cell phone use while driving? Not in the city...out in the country.

Heck I see it about half a dozen times every day in the city. Lots of people seem to bow their heads and pray at red lights. Must be deep in prayer as they continue to pray with head down well into the green light too.

Sort of detest that saying but when it comes to those who are putting others at risk I've sort of given up. When you drive six miles on the hiway and 10 out of the 13 vehicles you meet are visibly on their phones it becomes a situation of "I'll look after myself".  
Means that a person has to take road and driving hazards to a different level, it means that any approaching vehicle may not be on their side of road, or may wander onto your side, means that your going to be willing to take the ditch if you are forced to.  
To me it's just a changing world and driving situation, and if I get tagged by another driver who is on a phone, I'm going to claim wildlife accident, because when people get a driver liscence they are supposed to understand the laws and if the don't then they are no better than the critters that run across the roads.

You prbly have a cordless phone at home that u talk on while u do ur daily chores mby someone in their family passed away and it was important I’d worry about ur driving instead of rattling on others did u go to grab ur cell phone to report them while u were driving lol

Let me make dome observations and dissect your flawed post...  
1. It has no grammatical structure nor proper spelling, typical of one who texts contantly  
2. I was a passenger. My drivers driving was just fine. This guy's was dangerous.  
3. I don't text and drive at any time, anywhere.  
4. I don't have a cordless phone at home and I fail to see how that would be the same anyway...it would not put anyone's life in danger.  
5. If this guy's call was important, he should have pulled off. If someone died, being in a hurry would not help that dead person anyway, but pulling off could save his & others' lives. It takes very little time to pull off.  
6. I do know of someone who died because of his cell phone use in a vehicle.  
 
Your comment is very telling, rude & you are assuming things and are uninformed. I am thinking maybe you text &/or talk on your cell phone while driving. I hope your reply was not done while driving. Why else would you defend this guy? Are you offended? Was it you? *shaking my head*  
 
I figured I would not effectively be able to report this guy, but thought that I would ask anyway. It is so frustrating that so many feel like they are above the law (just like drinking & driving) and don't care if they hurt anyone. I really just don't understand, but I know addictions are hard to break, and this certainly is a rampant addiction and one for which there is no addictions help. It is too socially acceptable.  
 
Fishing Guy...don't I know it. I can see these same folks excited about the future dangerous self driving vehicles and using that as an excuse to practice up now with their texting so they can continue doing all this in a few years. It is a perfect *cough, cough* solution.

If a drivers actions were truely dangerous I would just call 911 as it is happening.

Do you have the description and plate number of the car? Video footage showing the dangerous actions of the driver?

The problem with reporting issues with rural drivers to the RCMP is this.... unless you have a very accurate des:cription of the vehicle, plate number, and a lot of proof, exact location and direction they were heading, it’s not worth calling the RCMP.  
 
They cover such a wide area and they don’t always find the suspect vehicle as a result.  
 
Example: Seeing a truck head from Oak Lake resort to the number 1 driving erratically all the way and when they got to the intersection of the 250 and #1 they started ripping donuts in the middle of that intersection.  
 
With how dark it was we couldn’t get a proper des:cription of the vehicle aside from it was a light coloured, newer looking truck with really bright white headlights, we couldn’t read the plate, tell the make and model, couldn’t tell who was driving. All we saw was them head south back towards the resort.  
 
We reported it to the rcmp because of how dangerous it was and they dispatched someone from Virden to go check it out. We got a phone call a short time later from the rcmp informing us they never found the truck or the people driving it.

I have a description of the vehicle, plate number, where it was headed, exact time & date, what dangerous thing they were doing (failure to change lanes completely while passing and on phone, no slowing down or stopping at the #1...blew through both signs), what small town they turned into, and a bit more.

Do you seriously a thing better to do with your time than report someone on their cell phone. I'm pretty sure 911 has more important calls to worry about than that please do not tie them up for something like that haha.

It must be terrible having no one in your life that you think is important that you remain alive, but I found out long ago that the world isn''t really about me, could be the reason that I said I detested saying that I''m looking out for number one. Maybe to some people it is a joke, but let''s hope that you never receive a call informing you that someone you know has been killed in an accident because of distracted driving. I don''t consider it a laughing matter, and maybe your not a statistic person, if you're lucky you never may be, but that''s what so many people believe, never happen to me, but the number of fatalities are growing because of the very fact that you find so amusing.  
Like I''ve mentioned different times maybe I''m different, but sometimes people''s opinions just seem strange.

Well have you ever adjusted the radio or looked in the rear view mirror or looked out the passenger window or say been eating something while driving? All that must be distracted driving to you is it not if you want to get literal?

First thought was I wonder how many people know the distance that is travelled in one second at normal hiway speed, now I know most people think metric but I'm still using imperial, so the answer in imperial is over 90 feet, so a two second distraction results in over half a football field, and most glances at a text message lasts at least two seconds.  
Now for the looking out the passenger side window there is this thing called peripheral vision, average person using both eyes averages 200-220 degrees, which means even with you head turned a complete 90 degrees still allows sight directly in front of you, same as looking in the rear view mirror, your vision forward is not completely lost, and most people only glance at the rear view mirror, and I'm not sure of the time involved in a glance to the mirror. Now for the radio, years ago they changed radios so that you could preset stations, which means no more looking at the radio, all you have to do today is reach down push a button. Now I'm an old guy, and if I can do it without looking down it shouldn't be a problem for others.

oh I''ve never heard of such a thing as preset stations and tech like that. So what do you do when you lose a station say driving to Winnipeg, do you pull over and reset all these so called preset station buttons? And ha I''m not even going to comment on that peripheral vision. Not sure how many people who turn there head 90 degrees can see directly in front of them. Are you sure you can? Quit reading useless facts on Google and start using reality.  
 
Say if I hold my phone and text, using your theory I should still be able to see directly in front of me right? I bet you it''s even better than turning my head 90 degrees and looking out the window cause it less than 90 degrees away right?

If someone stole from you would you be upset? If you answer no, that explains a lot. If you answer yes explain why?

The first couple of posters were correct in saying dont waste your time and the RCMP's before the pissing match started above.  
 
Unless a cruiser happens to be right in that area, if you provided EXACT details.... They arent likely to even dispatch a cruiser.  
 
RCMP are stretched far and thin especially in MB.

I know someone who reported a driving infraction with clear details (plate, car, driver description) and told the police she was willing to go to court as a witness. They laid a charge.  
 
Tell them you're willing to go to court!

...very dangerous behaviour, it's usually not worth being a Dudley Doright. That's not what you asked, but it's out there.
