I am curious where someone seeking employment look for opportunities? Do residents of Brandon look in the same places as those in the neighboring communities?

There is a Category in Classifieds labeled as Job Opportunities.

Prairie Mountain Health as a careers page on their website. All open positions are posted there from Housekeeping to laundry to nursing positions. They have facilities in Brandon and many of the rural sites. May need to start as casual to get your foot in the door, but they do have lots of opportunities for shifts.

I guess it depends what industry you want to work in. I use Linked In, set up a profile tailored to the industry you are looking to get a job in. There are recruiters reading profiles and reaching out with potential jobs all the time. I'm not even looking for a new job and have about 7 or 8 recruiters contact me some months.

Thanks everyone, I should have more clear. What I am looking for is the best way/place for a business to advertise to get optimal exposure. I find local news papers don't bring in the applicants as much as they used to. So my question is where do you look when you are trying for find employment?

City of Brandon, Local Job shop, Indeed, and jobbank.gc.ca, and of course eBrandon all offer website pages dedicated to job postings too.

Indeed is a real good job board that many Brandon area business and individual use. There is also Monster but I found it too generic. It seems to borrow from other sites. There is a couple of others but other than e Brandon which is haunted by regulars this is a start. Best of luck.

I'm biased, so I'll stick to two facts:  
 
- the Jobs classified category is the #2 category on the site, with 196,347 pageviews over the past month  
- over that same period there have been 451 separate job postings, with an average of 668 views per posting

I wouldn't use Job Bank as a primary advertising spot, unless you want to spend a lot of time sifting through it of country applicants or entirely unqualified applicants. Not unqualified in the sense that they are untrained in any way, but they are grasping well outside the relevance of their training. (Molecular biology grads applying for field jobs, when they don't know the front end of a tractor from the back)  
 
If you are wanting to prove that you should have an LMO, Job Bank is almost certain to be necessary. But know that it comes with a lot of sifting. Then again, so does Indeed. For ag jobs, the best boards for cross country ads are agcareers, and agcallhr.

I have a teenager who has been looking for her first job for the summer. Applied at about a dozen or more that were age appropriate and good start for her,(Mcdonalds, Burger Kings, A&W, Landmark, Dairy Queen etc and she hasn't found anything... Been applying since April - so frustrating!

My teen applied at McDonald's and got a job at the Trans Canada location. She also got a call for an interview at the Walmart location. Tespectfully declined it as she already accepted the other location.  
Value Village is also hiring students.

Hands down....ebrandon. Nothing will get better results for a business looking to hire in Westman. Just like this is the place to go to for buying/selling, discussions, and pretty much everything.

they seem to post a lot of jobs, including for the Prairie Mountain Health.
