I am wondering if anyone would know if any churches are open during the day and would allow people to come in and just sit in a pew and either pray , think, or just be still without being disturbed.

You can try St. Augustine. I'm not 100% sure they'll let you if they don't know you, but you can ask. You would need to come in through the office at the side.  
 
Alternatively, there will be Mass tomorrow (Friday, and generally every Friday) at 12:15 and then Adoration immediately afterwards until Benediction at 3. It's a quiet time that anyone is welcome to attend as the church is open (you can enter by the main doors), and you won't be disturbed. You might find the quietness that you're seeking, we believe literally in the presence of Christ.

Personally, it's my favourite time of the whole week when one can sit in contemplative silence.

That you''re free to come and go during Adoration as long as you''re quiet. At least one person needs to remain there as long as the Eucharist is exposed, but generally one of the members of the congregation will do that. If you wanted to come to just Adoration without Mass, if you come about 1:00 usually Mass is complete and the exposition has begun. If you come closer to 3, they will be doing a litany, and there are confessions starting at 2 so there will be more coming and going. So between 1 & 2 would be ideal for you.  
 
But Benediction at 3 is sublime in it's own right, and is worth staying for.

this church has always had an open door policy for people to come in and sit in the sanctuary.
