I have a very large basement - with a lot of stored items. I've noticed on certain days - like when it gets very humid outside, that the "basement smell" surfaces. There are many days where we are not home and all power and cooling is turned off, so when we come home the basement smell has surfaced to the main floor. I've tried the sponges, air fresheners, you name it....I don't store my belongings in boxes, but in rubber maid containers. But yet this very noticeable smell gets into my winter wear, my children's toys and don't even ask about my x-mas tree.
Does anyone have any ideas or home remedies on getting rid of the smell? thanx
