I’m just curious why this doesn’t happen earlier in the year (during the summer perhaps?) and always at the beginning of the school year?  
 
All of Rosser east of 26th is closed off right now, not to mention 1st street bridge.  
 
Just curious.

Why does it seem that they start many streets all at once and leave them for weeks, all tore to crap, and start other jobs! Finish one before moving onto the other! Just my opinion

Now that I think about it, they did work on that stretch of road on the corner of 26th and Park during the summer.  
 
I'm not really complaining - I lived overseas for a number of years and the roads were less than stellar, so I am grateful that our roads do get maintained.  
 
I'm just curious why they wouldn't work on the bridge (or a road like Rosser) when there isn't a surge of student/school traffic thrown into the mix of a daily commute.

Big In town or probably out of town projects that pay well because of the size maybe. I know road wise there is only so many paving machines to go around. Not just manpower but equipment has to be managed well.. Pretty much the father the project is away and near others then they work their way back is what I have seen. This is highways as far as city maybe the one asphalt plant has a pecking order of who when and what stuff they cough up?

Could some of it be from the tendering process to get these jobs done? Fiscal starts April 1, so by the time you plan, tender, approve etc a project, it's August.  
 
It think it was July when they started marking up the streets for the resurfacing. There's sections over near my house (including my street) that hasn't been ripped up yet, although they're marked.

they closed Rosser from 36th street to 18th Street it pissing me off; same with resurfacing 26 street North because now I can only get to my house off of Princess or Vic west. Why can't they do this stupid construction in early June or July? ????

They don't tender for projects in the current fiscal year. Tendering for the projects is done well in advance. The contractors that do the job tender out the subcontracts from January to March, so they GCs are awarded the contracts the previous year at least.  
 
However, for a project like the finishing work on the new 1st St bridge, the schedule is set by the provincial government. They will prioritize the multitude of projects that they have planned and inform the contractor of the order in which they will be done.  
 
I'm less familiar with how the City works.

Asphalt plants can be portable. Zenith isn't always the only game in Brandon. Some companies bring the plant with them. The company that did the repaving of Sandison Road (over a half mile long) and much wider than a city street) at the airport, laid three layers of asphalt on that road in two days. They then moved on to a small job in Shoal Lake and then to Cowan Manitoba, near Swan River Manitoba.

Let me get this straight, you are pissed off because there are only two routes left to get to your house? Now if you couldn't get to your house i could see the issue. This isn't even an inconvenience for you, its just a reason to complain.  
 
Soon I will not be able to access my driveway and will have to park a block away. This is going to be a hassle but we knew it was coming for a year. It doesn't matter if it happens now or two months ago everyone is going to complain regardless. If it doesn't happen, people will complain that the roads are terrible.
