There is lots of differences between North Korea and South. I know a number of people from South Korea and they were awesome people. Very kind and respectful. Some differences:
South Korea has a higher population, higher life expectancy. (NK life expectancy is something like 69). North K has a high infant mortality rate, high homicide rates and one of the worst rankings of freedom in press/allowing internet usage. SK is much larger and "westernized" and really very little is known about NK as it is a very closed country. The wonderful people I knew from SK stated that if you were involved in any form of Christianity it had to be done in "underground churches".
But, again, that being said, we do not know too much about the North, and the south is much safer in regards to us foreigners. All statistics and information about NK is really just an estimate/educated guess, so I suppose take it with a grain of salt.
I'm not sure the purpose of the question posed, otherwise i could have maybe given better information, but I hoped it helped some.
