First start everyone get tested we can't move forward until everyone gets tested. Masks do nothing. Stay home and don't even think about breathing moistly. Well I hope people that were all about testing went once a week and got tested once they opened it up. If you tested on Monday and contacted it Tuesday well you never will have known. I bet with your negative test Monday you feel pretty comfortable that you can walk around with less fear.
Then it was shifted to now where we have half a dozen to a dozen cases that they can easily trace where they came from and people are freaking out that it is running rampant. No people made a decision to gather and they ended up sick. These new cases aren't unknown tracing. If we were having these numbers with unknown tracing then I would consider this is growing again. Yes our numbers are going to go up and down over time. It's going to happen. We can't lock ourselves inside for ever. There will be far worse medical issues arise from that.
I know testing is still happening, but you hear nothing about go get tested. We need 100% of the population tested to open up. Now it's wear a mask. If you care about everyone else you better wear a mask. I actually feel very uncomfortable around people wearing a mask. Why are you wearing it? What do you have?
The absolute best situation I saw. This was a month or so ago. Pumping gas. Person at another pump is wearing a mechanics style glove on one hand that they were using to pump gas. Pumps their gas. Puts nozzle away. Takes other hand and grabs the glove by the palm/finger area and pulls it off. Sure glad you protected the one hand.
People feel they are doing good. But really have no idea how to properly protect themselves. How to wear masks, how to wear gloves, how to properly sanitize.
I choose to not wear a mask as I don't believe it protects anyone. They have changed their mind over this so many times I don't think anyone actually knows. It's not that I feel invincible, its there is no proof it works. And I feel it gives people a false sense of protection. Majority of people I find that crowd up on me in public have a mask. People that don't tend to be more aware of a bubble. I distance myself from others. I am way more conscious of sneazing/coughing into elbow opposed to hands.
Im either going to catch it or I'm not. If I do I will either recover with no symptoms or could one of the few that end up in the ICU struggling to live. I can jump I'm my car and get smoked by someone running a red light and end up dead. Doesn't stop me from living and driving.
I am more worried about what all These CERB and payouts are going to do to the economy and the government then I am catching a virus.
Where is this billions of lost tourism and Payouts coming from? There will have to be major budget cuts in the future. Just remember when a program gets cut that it was lost to covid payouts. Yes I applied and am hoping to get mine this week. I am stupid to not. I will be paying for it for the rest of my life. Why not benefit from it.
I think Manitoba definitely got ahead of the outbreak and steps they took to lock the province down clearly worked. But it's time to open up and live and end this fear mongering. "
"I choose to not wear a mask as I don't believe it protects anyone. They have changed their mind over this so many times I don't think anyone actually knows."
That's is demonstrably untrue.
Masks protect. That's why medical staff where them even prior to COVID. It protects the wearer to some degree, but more importantly it protects the other person. This has been known for at least 100 years, during the 1919 influenza pandemic masking was widespread for this reason.
The advice for the general public to wear masks has changed approximately once. It went from "the public shouldn't wear masks because we're concerned they're not going to do it properly and it will cause more harm than good" to "the public should wear masks because even when done wrong the benefits will outweigh the risks". The issue was never the mask, but people.
If you wear a mask, and wear it properly, and everyone else wears masks too, the science suggests that it can reduce transmission by 90% or more. That part is still ongoing - it might only be 50% - but it clearly has a benefit.
I agree with the rest of what you say. Many people don't wear them properly, or remove them properly. Many people do the thing with the gloves (I've seen it too!). But people doing things incorrectly doesn't negate the science support masks.
