cutting firewood

I recently purchased land in which someone cuts firewood off of, they cut around 15 to 20 cords to sell. Was just wondering what land owners/renters charge or are charged to cut wood on their property. The previous owner did not charge for this as they had a different agreement. I am just wanting to know what would be a fair rate. Feel free to send me a PM if you don't want to discuss over this chat.

As someone that purchases cords of wood every year 15-20 cords of wood is not that much money for the effort involved. If it was me a bottle or some wood would be fair. Best to talk to him and figure it out.

I should also add he is cutting down live trees not just cleaning up the dead fall.

We cut firewood - around 40-50 cord a year. We mainly cut on our own land but farmers are usually more than happy to let us clean up their deadfall as it prevents it from landing in their crop. I would say figure out what 20 cords of firewood would sell for (depends on type of wood) and ask for a percentage. It’s your land and your wood. Say no if he doesn’t agree.
