I was wondering who to call about as yard that is in dire need of some upkeep. This house has been boarded up for 2 years there are holes through the roof stucco is crumbling off the walls branches all over and grass that is already over a foot high and filled with weeds. It is a corner lot, so it has 2 public walk ways neither of which were shoveled all winter long. Is there a number to call to enquire about these things. If I could contact the owners I could possibly do the yard upkeep. Any info would be good. Thanks in advance.

If this house is in the east end, I know the one you are referring to. Sadly, its like this every year, in the 3 years we've been in the area the grass has been cut maybe 3 times total. Neighbours have called the city by-law enforcement and made complaints every single year. I have to believe the house should be torn down at this point, it almost certainly was fully inundated with water after the summer storm last year.

We have a derelict property next to us and across the street in the east end. The lawns are never mowed. My dogs now get ticks in the city which we never did when the lot was upkept by the old owners. I emailed my city counselor, it took a bit for him to get results but he did. The counselor at the time was Glen Parker. I got his email from the city website. It looks like I probably have to email them again this year.

…but it’s occupied. They don’t mow the grass, tons of weeds, and garbage everywhere. Going to give contacting the city a try.

Keep complaining to the city. We do have a vacant building by-law that has certain upkeep standards etc, but by-law enforcement is largely complaint-driven it seems.
