Whoppi Goldberg  
 
Suspended from the view due to remarks on “Holocaust race”.  
 
She issued an apology on Twitter but really those are just for show as she and her manager know she is trouble as soon as she said it.  
 
I support the suspension from The View. They could have acted a bit faster.  
 
I personally think she should be fired from the program.  
 
There has been incidents in the past with other hosts who said racist remarks and were fired.  
 
Her action was terrible and cannot be tolerated. More definite action needs to be taken.

That said, perhaps a link would be helpful to anyone who is unaware of this story.

Personally, I think she is an idiot who has a tendency to speak before thinking. Her apologies are stale at this point. I wonder how she would feel if someone told her that slavery wasn't about race, but rather "man's inhumanity to man."

i think she was trying to compare things from a race perspective but not a religious perspective. i think she considers the black american issue a race issue while the holocaust was a religious one, even though the germans thought they were the aryan race. she did not say it did not happen nor did she try to refute any history.  
 
i think people are being just a little more "sensitive" like usual

I just read this last night. There has been many many many thing said on the show that were wrong/not wrong (depending on your view point). But the show still goes on!

I think that her comment just stemmed from a lack of understanding of the real "rationale" behind the holocaust. People today (at least in my experience) don't really see Jewish people as being their own specific "race" of people despite that being how they've been viewed historically for centuries. It's why antisemitism has been so rampant throughout history.  
 
Whoopi [probably] just sees Judaism as a religion, rather than through the historical lens of race, which is why she said what she said. I doubt it's out of any sort of denial or hatred, just a lack of knowledge. It is hurtful however because like I said, there are centuries worth of pain that Jewish people have felt just on the basis of their beliefs and perceived race.

I agree as well. I am not a fan of Whoopie but I don’t think she meant it the way it was.

Readings few people’s assessment of this incident do they also believe that persecution of Muslim and other minorities by the Chinese government is also not a racist policy. Because most area experts and commentators agree and are calling it exactly that , racism.  
Frankly though many many countries and religions are guilty of carrying out racial or religious persecution or genocide at some point in their history. The important thing is that we learn from that as we move forwards, the saddest thought is that we really haven’t learned much from our past mistakes at all and these atrocities continue to happen on our watch all over the world.

Unsure who you are referring to on this thread, because I went back and didn't see a post that would indicate that anyone here would think of the Holocaust or the atrocities happening to Uyghurs in China to not be racist.

Whoopi Goldberg said in a poor choice of words that the holocaust was not race related.  
A few people have defended her position on this. I simply note the similarities between the atrocities of the holocaust and the Chinese persecution of minorities. You can’t have your cake and eat it. Persecution is persecution, There is no defence for it and no defence for influential people or anyone for that matter who misrepresent or downplay these events.
