maybe the good people of ebrandon can answer them. is it legal to do a criminal record check with out your permission? using your social insurance number to obtain it with out consent? and if they did do a record check and they let the person go because of a minor criminal of fence?  
the reason i ask is i have a friend who was working at a local business, and when hired he did not need a criminal record check done. but some things changed and they needed one done. the company went behind his back and obtained one without consent. he was let go from his position. now can he sue this company? what rights does he have? any information about this would be greatly appreciated!! thanks in advance.
