So a thread that was closed brought up an issue as the last post, that is of "weight discrimination"
it stated that weight discrimination is no better than racism or sexism...
This I disagree with for the following reasons:
1. Weight, at the end of the day is a matter of choice, race and sex are not.
2. Being overweight is unhealthy, and causes an unnecessary burden on the Canadian Health Care system. Therefore, your health issues that are a DIRECT result of your obesity are costing Jane and Joe Q. Taxpayer a hefty amount!
3. Being obese causes discomfort to others... ever sit on a plane with two hefty folks on either end?
4. Gluttony, over consumption and waste are the types of traits and behaviors that are causing famine in the rest of the world, I don't just mean food, but over-consumption has become part of Western Culture and it's a damn shame.
5. Finally, and you can call it shallow if you want... the average vision of what is "attractive" is not a roll or two hanging over 2 sizes to small jeans and loosely concealed by a 3 sizes to small tank-top
Sorry for all who are offended by these OPINIONS.
at the end of the day, this may be true, but chastising anybody for anything isn't really a nice thing to do. People probably have a good reason go get down on people who smoke, but it's just not good manners is it?
We must love on another not for our differences, but for our faults and realize that this doesn't make anybody better or worse.
