A couple of days ago, Oprah Winfrey did a show about women (who had been in stable relationship) that left their husbands for another woman. The atmosphere was you go girl, so to speak. The women were presented as being empowered, strong and the atmosphere was warm and supportive about their choice. A psychologist was interviewed who explained that this was normal because female sexuality is "fluid". Their daughters were interviewed, some were positive others not. None of the husbands were interviewed for their reaction. All of their new lesbian partners were interviewed. A couple of years ago, Oprah did a show about men who left their wives and children for another man. The atmosphere was how dare you again so to speak. Their wives were brought out on stage for their reaction which was very negative. The implication was that these men were very selfish and they had destroyed their families.
