Metis business directory?

I saw an ad today in the Free Press by the Manitoba Metis Federation looking for Metis business owners to join an exclusive Metis-owned business "directory".
Is that necessary? Is is discriminatory? Just struck me as kind of sad in a way that we can't all just take race out of the equation.
