What are the hrs for noise bylaws for Brandon mb  
is it quiet hrs 11pm -7am ?

If I remember correctly the by law states that pretty much all noise that bugs your neighbours isn't allowed at any time. So blasting music super loud, your dog barking, etc, is a problem at any time. You can look up the exact by law on bps website though.

That must not apply to whatever is going on at the keystone grounds. We have to have our windows open because the house is so hot. Large fans running and still cannot drown out the noise enough to sleep.

The Folk Festival started today so it will be a noisy week end

I live blocks and blocks away with 2 little ones and have to be up by 5 am and it's keeping us all up. Very inconsiderate and unnecessary volume level.

Can't sleep either, it is really loud. Does not help I live close by. I have a fan running too and windows closed. I can feel the vibration of the music on my front door. But I won't be a Debbie downer, sounds like a fun weekend for those attending!

*sigh*  

Had to be up for 5am for a 12 hour shift and I live by the Koch plant and could still hear the music! My windows were closed, A/C on, and TV on and could still hear it! Wasn't too impressed.

My goodness, if everyone keeps complaining about the noises that events make in town, no one is going to want to hold an event here!  
 
It is a festival, it is going to be loud. Just like the Relay for Life they had down at the Sportsplex was loud, the Monster Trucks were loud (even though it was during the day, that is a shift workers bedtime).  
 
I can understand complaining about noise from construction, noise from your neighbours partys, but events that people pay to hold in Brandon? That's like wondering what the noise by-law is for thunder when it wakes people up.

I have no problem with events going on during the day and even into the evening but come on is it really necessary for them to play music that loud until the wee hours of the night..

the music at folk fest lasted?  
 
I heard A Tribe called Red after ten but don't think it lasted all night!  
 
Man, were they ever loud! But at the same time I was wishing I was there in person! They're AWESOME!!

I believe the festival has a special permit for the weekend and the noise has to be shut down by 12:30 or so.  
 
A Tribe Called Red was freaking AWESOME! I can hardly wait to see what today's line-up is going to sound like.  
 
People wonder what there is to do in this town and then B*Moan when something actually happens.

I'm sorry you were tired this one time after this well advertised event that happens this time every year.

You just have to sometimes deal with when you want to live in the city...  
Move out to the country and you'll be golden.

I never heard any music from Folk Festival. For that matter, I didn't even hear the Monster Trucks. And I was sitting on our second floor balcony that faces west.

I've called the police twice for exactly the same noise complaint (before 11pm in the early evening) and I received two opposite replies.  
 
The first noise complaint I made, the clerk said the noise I was explaining was unacceptable and the police were sent out to shut it down.  
 
The second call I made (damn near identical to the first, different date), I was told that they don't send anyone out for noise complaints until after 11pm.  
 
Perhaps I'll try a third time and see what response I get but why waste my time just to be told that I have no recourse with neighbours making a racket.  
 
To help out the residents of Brandon, perhaps the police can be consistent in their replies to complaints.

If you phone and get that response about the cops not attending until after 11 pm, complain! That's BS! Noise that interferes with your quality of life is not tolerated!

I guess it depends a lot on the direction of the wind if you hear outdoor music. I found last night that even putting a pillow over my head didn't drown out the music but I don't think I heard it past 1130.

You live by Koch and you could hear the music with your tv and A/C on??? C'mon  
 
I am 8 blocks away and could barely hear it outside on my deck. 12:30-12:45ish I couldn't hear a thing.  
 
It is no wonder why events and festivities don't come to Brandon.

I can really see why no one wants to put on events here or build build new attractions here. Because it's either costs money to attend, too loud, not good enough, takes a bit of traveling, cause more traffic and the list can go on.  
 
When I lived o the 500 blk of 7th, I could just hear it. But never bothered me. Then again I grewup right next to the CP mainline in Douglas and near Shilo and got accustomed to noise like that.

It started in 1985

30 years and only now are people complaining about the music.  
 
We live in a friggen city, your going to expect noise of some kind. If you want absolute silence, relocate to some rural area. We live in a 24h/365 day world now.

People have complained about the folk fest noise, the fair firework, Canada day fireworks, demo derbies, trains, monster trucks etc since ebrandon started. Next up fire trucks, police cars, thunder, and the sound of grass growing.

if it was noise coming from a casino, it would of been fine.

Around 12:30am the music died off and I fell asleep. Like previously stated above, it was loud enough to keep me awake but I am only a couple blocks away. I do understand people got to sleep but I agree with others that we only get a few events per year for people to enjoy. Let's just all suck it up, it will be over as fast as it came

a few months we won't be able to enjoy nights like this.  
 
Maybe it is a good thing we don't have grandstands anymore. We couldn't have any events at it because of the noise.
