Anyone else watching this battle between rapper B.o.b and Neil deGrasse Tyson. B.o.b is trying to convince people that the Earth is flat through his Twitter.  
 
Started as a Twitter battle and now it's a rap battle.

I have had a disproportionate amount of contact with flat-earthers in recent months. I didn't think these people existed, but they seem quite genuine from what I can tell.  
 
I mean, isn't it pretty clear that pretty much all the planets are round-ish, based on our observations and basic Newtonian physics (i.e. orbital mechanics)? Why would they think Earth is different?

scary thing is that he has 2.3 million Twitter followers and how many now believe him? Reading on his Twitter some are smart enough and are countering his claims.  
 
And any proof you give that counters him, he says is part of the conspiracy.  
 
Just like the Young Earther's who believe the Earth is 6000 years old.

...is that some how this idiot has a voice that people listen to. Who cares if B.o.b thinks the world is flat? It's not up to us to prove him wrong, it's up to him to prove us wrong.  
 
I'm actually surprised that Tyson even bothered.

This is why sailors looking over the horizon could see only the tip of the mast of an approaching ship first, and then the ship would come into view from top to bottom as it got closer.  
 
These are things we can readily observe ourselves, how do these people even exist?

Just because you may not believe it dosn't mean it isn't true? As a Pastafarian I too am subject to doubt and ridicule.  
 
There is more to understanding the Great Colander that is our universe than can be explained by science, apparently. Why just the other day while I was thinking of my poor deceased Mother the phone rang and it was my neighbor....A MOTHER! Coincidence? Some say yes others think not, I mean what are the odds.  
 
The Flat Earthers have volumes of anecdotal evidence and many books that support their claims. If only I could think of another example of a belief system that is based wholly on anecdotal evidence and a book and has standing in law and government.  
 
Any way the point is, if you want to go on believing the earth is round you go ahead, but I for one am going to keep,an open mind and see what evidence the Flat Earthers have. Remember there are some who used to believe that going out in public in sweatpants was wrong and we all know how that turned out.

....: Some of what they say makes sense. I think they should be given equal time in the public science curriculum as the young earth and intelligent design theories.

I may have as well just trying to understand how they come to those conclusions. Basically forget everything you know about science and math.

some reading about the 'Flat Earth Society' and they even have a wiki website. By the way Earth is not a Planet according to them and the Sun and Moon are 32 miles in diameter at a height of 3000 miles.

They really have invented some pretty interesting reasoning for their claims.

Copernican Theory becomes Bobernican Theory. Not even closely related, but it's all I could come up with. Also, it sounds better than Bobgate.
