This afternoon just before 1pm, I had to make a stop at Walmart so my passenger could get a few items from the store. I dropped him off at the door and proceeded to find a parking spot.  
 
It's here that I will say that I drive a crew cab long box dually truck, so its extremely long, and very wide when compared to 90% of the vehicles in Brandon. It is never easy to park "properly" or "as fast" as what small cars and SUV's can. But, its OK, because what's a couple extra seconds to park or if I end up taking a bit of extra space?  
 
Well, I guess the guy that followed me down the lane to the spot I chose (which was two spots wide, and I had every intention of only taking one) and proceeded to do my normal 5 point turn to turn my mammoth of a truck into the parking spot. Seeing that the gentleman behind me was waiting, I figured I would wait to finalize my parking and let him go by me, as I had to back up and pull in straighter as to not take up more then 1 spot.  
 
It was at this time that he revved his engine and sped down the lane (driving by quite a few empty spots). I thought, maybe he had somewhere to go. After getting my truck into the parking space and shutting it off, I notice that the driver of the vehicle that was behind me pulls in and parks just off the front right corner on the other side of the parking spaces from me (I'll add that his SUV was able to pull into the spot quickly because it was not very big). The gentleman then decides to look at me and utter the words "F****** Moron"  
 
My years of watching the NHL and heated playoff games has taught me how to read some lips.  
 
Well sir, I'm sorry if I took up too much of your time parking my oversized truck, and that it made you so mad as to direct that comment at me. I guess maybe I'm just to laid back, and prefer to enjoy doing things then to be in a rush and get mad at people. I just don't see the point in getting mad like that.  
 
People need to calm down, and learn to enjoy the simpler things in life, and to not get so pissy at other people, for such small, insignificant things.  
 
 
 
PS: It was a fairly new, black Ford SUV. I believe it also said "Platinum" on the back corner, not too sure. So, if this was you, I hope you enjoyed the rest of you day.

That parking lot is terrible and full of terrible drivers. Driving anywhere near the front door or passenger drop off and someone is getting angry for no reason.  
 
I also drive a large truck or drive my wife's edge and regardless of vehicle I park over by the dollar store there and just walk it isn't worth it to try and be close far too many morons in that lot

It seems like in today's culture, many people think their time is more valuable than everyone elses. It doesn't take much driving around Brandon to wittness some road rage. Although, sometimes I can't say I blame people for getting angry.  
 
When it comes to driving, people just seem to lose empathy for anyone.  
 
Usually if you bump into someone on the sidewalk or beat someone to a line at the till, some "sorry"s might get exchanged and that's it. But it seems as soon as some people get behind the wheel it's like a switch get's flipped and tolerance goes right out the window.  
 
The other day while driving down 18th to the coral center I saw a semi signaling to get into the inside lane since before Vic and nobody would let him in. Nobody. He was down to a crawl with signals on and all. I had to come full stop to let the poor man (or woman) get in the lane before the bridge. People just don't care. Not only don't care but get angry that I forced them to take 10 seconds out of their day, to help someone out.  
 
Ill be the first to admit I get annoyed at other drivers occasionally, but stuff like this I just don't understand.

I accidentally cut someone off yesterday driving on 18th. It was completely my fault but it was not intentional. I waved an apology and the guy was going bonkers honking and giving me the finger. I thought this reaction was completely over the top. We all make mistakes! So i understand how you feel, kind of puts a damper on your day!

I lived in Winnipeg for many years, but have found the cool thing to do here apparently is to fly across a parking lot, not down the rows, but across the parking lot. So while you're calmly driving down a row, you're likely to have somebody squirting thru the parking lot in front of you, and they don't look, nor appear to care. I'll admit I've at times had to work thru a parking lot, but always on the look out and respecting the traffic thru the rows. I almost demolished a guy in a van the other day who thought it a good idea to go full speed across a parking lot, THRU parked vehicles. I had a few choice words for him as I calmed myself, as I would have been 50% at fault according to MPI had I not stopped in time - literally inches - while he continued across the parking lot in the same fashion.  
 
I tend to get frustrated with the "speed" at which people move thru Brandon, but not because they don't go fast enough, but because people here don't know how to deal with anything other than 4 way stop signs. Even at that, they would all just stare at each other, not knowing who should go first. And "merging" isn't in the Brandon vocabulary, (or Winnipeg for that matter) either merging or accepting a merger. I try to avoid city streets during busy times.

today in the RBC parking lot. The drivethru atm was out of order and I had to make a quick decision to go inside for cash. Turned into the parking lot..slowly n had time...but the LADY (I use this term lightly) in the red truck started yelling obscene things at me with her window down.. as much as I couldnt believe the words coming out of this "ladies" mouth..I couldnt help but laugh. Sad her life must be something awful to be so miserable.

some people in this city i tell ya !! I was in a merge lane and had to wait for oncoming traffic, and a car pulled up behind me. As traffic proceded to go past us, he pulled out as i did. I guess he thought he had right of way and could cut in front of me or something, he followed me all the way to my workplace (honking, flipping me off) the whole way. In the end i know i made him worse, i did the smile and wave .... i find the best thing you can do is smile and wave, it really is the nice thing to do, and man does it upset those road ragers even more !!! LOL

these drivers flipping people off and so on, just have nothing better to do. Maybe they should stay home watch the news and see that driving is the least of our worries. Even trying to get into the lineup at Timmie's is like a NASCAR race. If someone lets me in, I always buy their coffee.

I always bite the bullet and park right at the nearly empty edge of the parking lots. Yes, I know that extra 50 metres of walking is so very extreme, but it's worth it to watch all the dummies going in circles and fighting for parking spots a little bit closer to the store in their jacked up vehicles

Yeah, I just shrugged it off. No point in worrying about it. Actually had a good laugh about it later on too!

I agree with the original post message. Sometimes a driver speeds through the parking lot where there's no parked cars, so a person really has to pay attention. This impatient behavior is everywhere. I tried to parallel park on 9th street, and the person behind me in a larger 4x4 got so close behind my vehicle that I couldn't choose the parking spot. I had to go around the block. It's just a game to a lot of people. All a person can do is keep a positive attitude. Someday, they'll do it to the wrong person. It's "Sad" times we're living in.

The person making the lane switch is always at fault.  
 
If both you and the car behind are in a merge lane and traffic clears from behind, he has the right of way if he establishing position in the left lane first. As a driver, you are responsible for making sure that when you move left (or right) that the lane is clear from the front, the sides, and from behind.  
 
What the other driver did was not polite (and could be considered rude) but he does have the law on his side.

Somehow those people that get road rage are always right. Like the girl who was speeding through superstore parking lot as I was coming up a row I almost hit her, I was wrong! you could tell by the middle finger she flashed at me after I parked. Or the guy by Vincent Massey somehow I was wrong there too because I had no stop sign to turn left he felt the stop sign on his side didn't mean "Stop until safe to proceed" as he mouthed curse words to show he thought I should've been the one to stop! If these people don't think they're wrong why would they stop doing it?! Even then they might know and not care!

at many other drivers too because of the way they drive (I also think I am abetter driver than most), like driving too slow or careful when I am behind them, but then I calm down and think about it. I would much rather them drive carefully and cost me an extra minute of my time than be reckless and endanger someones life especially a childs.  
 
Just remember don't "pet the sweaty things" and don't "sweat the petty things" and everything will be fine. Lol

thing I find is people that have to stop in front of the doors to let someone out . Or people that just park there .  
 
On topic : Yeah people are quick to be rude to one another. Seems to be necessary these days I don't understand it either.

I can understand your being annoyed with people parking near the doorway at walmart, but what is wrong with dropping someone off. Lots of us old geezers have ole rickety wives that can't walk too far.

You are right . I totally forgot about the elderly. Sorry about that !

People with disabilities, elderly and pregnant women...

for handicapped, pregnant women, etc. and many elderly people already have handicap tags although maybe not enough spots available, not like home depot where it seems half the parking lot is specifically designated!

Yes you are right except the driver or car owner is not the handicapped or such as is doing someone a favour  
 
In regards to the Op You have a big arsed truck for a reason. Good and it you deal with it as you need to.  
 
That clown was short tempered and may be one of those idiots who figure no one needs in town. They do pretty much need a space and a half. So be it. Stupid parking spaces are too small by at least a foot or two in my opinion.  
 
It is nice to know some big truck owners are aware of parking concerns. Some do not.
