Hotel pools

Has anyone run into these situations before.
On a recent trip to Bismarck, we had our grand kids.
We stayed at a place with water slide , pool, hot tub etc.
Any way it states in your room, at the pool entrance that all children must be supervised by a adult.
Anyway, in the middle of the afternoon, a group of 5 children all under the age of 12 i would say showed up, unsupervised.
Running around, rushing up the water slide stairs past others, running through the wading pool, being very unrespectful.
Anyway, they spotted the lift chair for handicap persons at the hot tub.
Well they thought, this is great fun.
One would sit in it, and two others would swing it around trying to dump the other one into the hot tub.
Eventually they tore the bolts out of the cement.
ruining it for someone who needed it.
Meantime, the parents, sitting in their pool side room at the end of the pool, oblivious to all this because i think they figure they don''t have to parent anymore.
My daughter complained to the front desk just after this circus started, and they didn''t send security or anything.
This is the second insistent like this we have encountered.
The other at a different hotel.
I wonder how do parents feel about this.
Do you leave your kids unsupervised at hotels.
If you have a pool side room , do you stay in the room and never check what your children are doing.
Is this what you do at home.
