Whenever I have an ad on e-Brandon and am contacted by a person who doesn't live in Brandon - I am never "stood up" - the potential buyer is on time and if they are running a bit late they always call me to say they are still coming.

However if the potential buyer is from Brandon - I get "stood up" almost 50% of the time and never get a phone call or mail to say they aren't coming.

Now I fully understand that (1) you changed your mind and no longer want or need that item or (2) you found a similar item or the exact item from another seller who is asking a lower price or (3) the time we arranged is no longer convenient for you. But it is just rude and inconsiderate of you to not contact me to say you aren't coming.

So, I will always hold an article for an "out of towner" since it is my experience that you will show up.

I'm just curious - is there a sociological reason for this disparity - are people from smaller communities more considerate or have better manners?

Whenever I need something, I come to ebrandon instead of buying new! I wish ebrandon had a comment and/or rating system for buyers and sellers. That's just a rough idea. I haven't thought out how practical it would be, but theoretically it would be really nice.

I have issues with the fact that if arrangements are made to drive out to the sellers place out of town and you msg them saying your on your way then they tell you they just sold it .

Told a seller that I did not live in Brandon but would be coming in on the weekend. She said no problem, she would hold it for me. I tried messaging her on the way in and at various times during the day while I was in Brandon. She refused to answer me, even though she was still actively posting items for sale. I guess she must have sold it to someone else and couldn't be bothered to do the polite thing and
tell me.

Sellers selling items for sale that are supposed to be in good working condition, when they know full well that there are problems with the items. Yes, I know that is it buyer beware, but that is almost theft. If you are upfront with the problem, at least the buyer knows about it first and can make their decision based on that information.

I don't know if this has much to do with rural/city or not, but this happened to us recently. i.e. Selling something that isn't in working condition. My daughter bought a washer and dryer advertised on ebrandon. The washer leaks up a storm. We tried calling/texting the seller several times. Absolutely no response.

I got tired of no-shows so whoever gets to my place first is the one who gets the item. Usually I tell people to call when they are leaving to come pick it up, in that case I will hold it for an hour or so.
