Modern Sales Positions

Currently looking into a sales job, but often hear how in equipment sales positions now that there is "minimal margin" in the actual sale, and the dealerships make their profits more now from service and parts and financing etc, yet I continually see positions focus on traditional commission sales structure yet that can't be very profitable for the rep anymore. A percentage of nothing is nothing. I know these jobs need to be filled but a rep can't be making nothing just to complete the sale. If people in the industry wish to PM me with examples of more modern business structures I would appreciate it. I don't need to know exactly what you make but if you have a base salary with a bonus system if a certain amount of units are met annually etc. Thanks in advance.
