Garage Sale Pricing..people crazy?
8/7/2010 at 8:53 PM
So we decided after missing them pretty much all summer to come in and hit a few Garage Sales, and yes there are some with decent prices for what their selling, but a few sales I hit today people are charging NEW prices for old stuff.
I know tools hold their value a lot better then a lot of things, but you can't expect people to buy tools at your Garage Sale for retail prices.
The buyer doesn't know if it works, no gurantee, no box, typically no book...so if you want to sell it then put a decent price on it. For ex. a router today for $200.00...and it's by est. 10+ years old....not to mention you can buy the same new one (newer model) for the same price today at the store it came from.
Also hit a sale with some VERY used tools and again...just becasue of the name of them, asking insane prices.....for something that regardless of name wears out and not worth fixing.
I know I don't have to pay the prices and I wouldn't in a million years, but had to rant at the people that have G-Sales and expect to make a fortune off them....don't waste your day sitting in the sun...your better to leave your crap in the boxes in teh garage and relax for the day.
