If you haven't heard already, Mars is going to be closest to Earth since 2003 on July 31. Brandon University Astronomical Observatory will be having public viewings that night running all the way into early morning of Aug. 1st. Due to roof restrictions there can only be so many on the roof at once so a free ticketing system has been setup on Eventbrite.

On that night Mars will be 57.6 million KM from Earth. In 2003 it was 55.8 million KM away. For the past few months a dust storm has been covering the planets, but looks to be dying down.

red flying object

When we were leaving we saw a red o:bject floating around west of BU. Anyone else see or know what it was?

It was a plane that must of departed Brandon Airport. Took us a bit to figure it out too till we saw the wing tip lights.
