We will be driving to Las Vegas area with our kids (ages 1 and 3) near the end of February. We will take about 4 days to drive there and 4 days to drive back to give the kids lots of opportunities to get out and stretch their legs.  
 
We've done the trip before without kids, so we have several things in mind to do once we're there, but have never really stopped to check stuff out on the way. So we're looking for suggestions on neat, fun, interesting things to do on the way there or back, or even kid-friendly things to do in or around Las Vegas. The plan is to go to several national parks around Las Vegas, such as Grand Canyon, Red Rock Canyon, and Zion National Park. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Check out Bearizona for sure! Tons of fun. Also, there is a Flinstone Village where you can walk in the town and into the houses. It was pretty neat too. But for sure check out Bearizona.

The Bryce Canyon is near Zion canyon. In Vegas there is a lion habitat near the strip, amazing educational place this place is NOT a zoo. It is an acreage. The mirage has the dolphins and tigers, Mandalay Bay has the shark reef, the flamingos at the flamingo hotel and circus circus has an amusement Park in it and a carnival. Look on vegas.com many free attractions and minimal cost ones. Enjoy the trip.

I took my 4 year old a few years ago and she had a blast there. We did circus circus, Siegfried and Roy's wildlife preserve and the dolphin show, they have an awesome childrens museum. We saw a pet tricks show that's was so so buy she lived the knights dinner show at the Excalibur.

For years Las Vegas was marketing itself as "family". That has stopped. Kids do not spend money. It has shifted, very noticeably, back to adult themed.  
 
I go frequently, 4 times in the last 18 months.

We are planning on only being on the strip in Las Vegas for two days and then spend the rest of our approximately 2 weeks doing stuff in and around the area so all ideas are appreciated!  
 
I had never heard of Bearizona before, but it looks really neat - I'm pretty sure we will check it out while we're down there - thanks!

You and your family could checkout the Valley of Fire, there’s a visitor center there with live species of some of the insects in the area. It really is an amazing site. Great for having a picnic. There is also a riverboat cruise on Lake Mead that takes you to see the Hoover Dam. You can buy lunch on board and take in the sites.
