We're attempting our first road trip with our little ones. They are 1 1/2 and 3. I've been googling and searching Pinterest for ideas for activities for them. I have lots of ideas for my 3 year old - he likes colouring, stickers, books, etc... easy stuff.  
 
However, my 1 1/2 year old is stumping me a little. She's still too little for the stuff that interests her brother. I'm looking for things that will keep her occupied, not get lost in the car seat or on the floor (I don't want to have to be searching for things all the time), and don't take up huge amounts of space. What have you found that works for that age?

We found traveling at night was the best. My wife would drive at dinner and I would sleep till about midnight or so and then I would take over. That works great for point A to B trips. Now if your vacation is the road trip where you are stopping every couple hours to visit something that is where movies came in handy.

We would bring children's music along, sing to them.  
Read books.  
They are content looking around, playing with small things.  
Snacks.  
Try and travel at nap time, evening/night

I saw a post on homemade in Brandon Facebook page for personalized lap trays. I ordered them for my kiddos and they are so handy! I get the dry erase books and they sit and doodle and there's little compartments for drinks and snacks so they don't spill everywhere!
