I know cheapest ain't necessarily the best but what is the best/cheapest travelers insurance I don't know if it matters but 2 people for about a week and a half two weeks. Thanks!!

How old are you? Any health problems now or any other time.

When my Mom went on vacation with our family a few years ago we bought her Blue Cross travel insurance. It was all done on their website. Super easy and I have Blue Cross travel insurance through my work so I already knew it was good coverage. We didn't have to make use of it, but it was comforting to have just in case.

28 and yes a few health problems but not to crazy. And blue cross ya I'll have to check them out.

My Mom is in her 60s, with some health issues and it was around $70 for 2 weeks in the US.

I used the website kanetix and purchase through there if it’s just short trips to the USA. Otherwise I buy with my flight if outside USA. You can do a quote on that website and choose the one that suits you best and is quite cheap depending on duration and destination of trip.

Check your credit card agreement, you may be covered. CAA is also very good.

Price is based on age and duration of trip. Where health comes into play is understanding stability or pre existing condition clause...if travelling in canada most things are covered except ambulance. Dont be the next go fund me page. Buy whatyou need from a live body who can not only ensure your covered but help you at time of claim...try getting support from caa or the internet.. not going to happen

Really what does that cover though dosent seem like it would be much. And eph2-8 yes I know I'm just asking for what places people have used and how good bit was then I can look into what they got and research it I just need some starting places.

When we went to BC, we purchased through Dick Agencies. It was fairly inexpensive. They also suggested to purchase enough for one week more than what you need in the event that something does happen and you are in the hospital (You can extend it but you may not realize, right away, that you need to call if you are in a stressful situation).

You will get $10,000,000 worth of coverage for any sudden and accidental occurrences within Canada for the duration of your trip. When you buy within Canada coverage pre existing condition coverage is not excluded. You get ambulance, hospital... anything that occurs while on your trip. It will not cover if you are going to BC to seek medical attention or cover booked doctors appointments.

I went with TD Canada Trust's insurance, quick, cheaper and easy to do....so worth it

If you have extended health benefits through your employment, check to see if travel health is included. Many employer packages have travel health included with the extended health benefits. I had a very minor health incident in the US about ten years ago requiring some X-rays and it was all covered through my health benefit plan through my employment. The same would likely apply for travel in Canada. I often remind my employees that they have coverage through their work plan and don't need to buy additional insurance.

Check out western. They sell a few different companies. Blue Cross - regardless of age there is pre existing clauses. Tugo through Western has pre existing clause as well but has a 7 day stability period. They go over all coverages/exclusions with you. Blue Cross - $5mil limit. Tugo $10 mil limit.  
 
Don't always trust your credit card. Always call and confirm coverage before going with coverage through a credit card.

Here is a list of questions to ask Visa, MC, CAA or whoever you buy your travel insurance from including the internet.  
If my medication changed from brand name to generic.. am I covered. If I had a chest infection and went on antibiotics a month ago or two am I covered. If I have been on heart medication for ever but we switched my meds are we covered. If my doctor referred me to a specialist but I haven't seen that specialist because the appointment is in 6 months or a year am I covered? If I need to see a doctor when I am away who pays for it? me and then get reimbursed or do they pay direct? Who negotiates what the fees are? When do I need to call the insurance company and what happens if I don't get through to the call center. what does emergency and unforeseen mean. If I decide to stay a few days longer or get storm stayed am I covered. What do I do? If the doctor recommends tests do I just go with it? You need to know each of those answers. You get what you pay for and even then if you don't disclose or ask the questions you may not be covered. This will be listed in the contract you receive before you travel. The 7 day stability clause mentioned in an earlier post has a limitation of coverage to 150k.  
For those that have travel coverage with your employer. Call the insurance company and ask the same questions listed above. Just because you have group coverage does not mean you are covered because you may not pass the conditions of the contract. You are free to take the advise of anyone who posts on this site but in the end you will be fully responsible for either being informed or not. I am not saying you will not be covered. I am saying ask each of these questions because you may be the one that does not qualify and finds out too late.

I am retired but have kept my PSAC health care plan which includes travel insurance. Has anyone had any experience with this? I sometimes wonder how well I am covered hen crossing the border.

I think there might be some confusion about what is being asked here. Travel and health insurance while traveling are 2 different things. You don’t need additional health insurance while travelling in Canada. The provinces cover what’s normally insured (not dental, prescriptions, possibly ambulance) and bill back to your province after you receive care. You are not involved in that process.  
Travel insurance (trip interruption, lost luggage, etc) is separate and the travelers responsibility. As mentioned many credit cards include this, especially at the higher level of card (gold, premium etc.). CAA is a good resource if you are a member and need help.

I previously went to Ficek Insurance to get travel insurance, they quoted me with a couple providers to make sure I was getting the best price/coverage.  
 
Also if you are traveling to another province it is best to get some travel insurance, it's super cheap but not all things covered by Manitoba Health are covered when you travel to another province. Better to be safe than sorry.
