we did our annual vacation to wisconsin this summer .. beautiful state... but had a strange situation arise when we stopped at gas/convenience shop in garrison Wisconsin .we couldn't buy any alcohol there because we did not have a scannable drivers licence for use in the united states by the way im 64 years old....obviously not a minor no scannable license no beer... manager says end of story ...WTF.. any body else got any stories thanks

Few years ago on a bike trip around lake superior we rode into small town for breakfast. Asked some of the locals for a good place to eat. I think it closed they said. We found it.an old railway diner car attached to a house. Best bisquets and gravy you will ever find. Good thing we didn't listen to the locals we asked

With whats going on between Canada and USA. Americans take it to heart and very offended that Canadians still travel to the states.  
 
You have to remember they voted Trump, and A LOT are Trump supporters. It''s unfortunate, but they will do anything to show your not accepted in America.  
 
I have a friend that traveled through Wisconsin (late July) and stayed at a hotel over-night. The next morning there was a paper on his windshield saying "your not welcome in Wisconsin, our dairy is superior than Canada". That the type of disrespect their president is telling their nation to do to others.

I agree that you unfortunately may have run into a Trump loving shop owner who may believe that Canadians are disgusting. The following was quoted [Source quoted below]. I am not sure about anyone else, but I will not be travelling to the U.S. anytime soon. It is too sad, as I have many American friends who are great friends, but who are embarrassed of the state of their country at the moment.

What a shame for Canadians that enjoy travelling to the States and spending money there.
