Can Shaw Direct work in the US?

Ask them directly. If you have computer account asking by chat is way faster service.  
 
I haven’t tried it but I don’t see why not as it works off internet. However never use your data. Use wireless only. That is what I set mine up with as the option on it.

Do not contact them directly, as they will not knowingly allow you to access the satellite signal from the US!  
We used to take ours down with our trailer,and a portable tripod for the dish, but our receiver and horn on the dish became outdated and would not pick up a signal.  
Also set up an account on the computer so you can refresh the receiver if need be... if you phone them and let them know you are in the US, they will not do the refresh for you.  
We now use FreeRange, or Fibe TV over the computer, but as well, it is not available in the US, as it will detect that you are in the US and have "flown the coop"! There are work arounds for this with VPN, but for reliable service you would need a subs:cription.

We were in Mazatlan, Mexico and the woman who ran a restaurant there had Shaw satellite. But she didn't tell Shaw where she was. And paid her bill out of Calgary.
