Hey just curious what kind of id you need to take a newborn to the states? Driving through. Seeing how most id's take awhile for babies.

If your just driving across the border all you should need is the birth certificate atleast that's all we have ever needed

the baby needs a passport just like an adult. If you are traveling alone with the baby bring a letter from the other parent stating that they are aware that you are taking them across the border (to ensure you are not fleeing with the child). My wife took our newborn to the states on the plane a few months ago and this is what we needed.
Not hard to find out this info by looking it up online.

Children do not need a passport if you're entering the US by land (driving), a birth certificate works for them

If driving you shouldn't need a passport. As adults we go across all the time without one . You should bring their birth certificate/ health card. And if baby has a diff last name and/or one parent isn't going maybe get a letter just to be safe. Or call the border the should be able to tell you.

Thanks everyone. Vital statistics messed up on his birth certificate so it can take another 4-6 wks before they issue me a new birth certificate. Looks like I'll have to postpone the trip.

I have been waiting for his birth cert in the mail and haven't received it so I phoned them. The lady told me they put mine and my husbands middle names as our last name. And our last names as our middle names. So we have to wait on a new one.

A pink copy of your birth registration is all that's required for an infant.
Both parents are required and pink copy of mb birth registration for entry and you should have no trouble.

I do not have a copy of his birth registration. Who was suppose to give this to us?? I do have him on our MB health card! But that's it so far.

You should have received a copy of it at the hospital. If you don't have it I would contact them.
