My family and I went for a picnic today at Adam Lake in the Turtle Mountain Provincial Park. We had never been there before and thought we would see what the beach was like. Although it was a beautiful area, very peaceful and quiet, we were shocked at the amount of "animal droppings" that were littering the beach and the surrounding hiking trail/grassy area. It was covered! We then decided to try and visit Max Lake, but it was worse. You could literally not take a step without coming across the animal waste at the beach/picnic area.  
 
Since these are fairly unpopulated beaches and picnic areas we don't believe this is from dogs. Deer, perhaps?? Wondering if anyone knows if there are staff at Turtle Mountain Park to clean it up or is this typical during the summer months?

is from geese and ducks..

Often there is a lot of goose droppings at these lakes. They like to hang around these areas. It's really harmless and not much that can be done about it.

......trailered our horses down there to ride the "groomed" trails. We stopped and paid for a day pass and asked about where the equestrian park was so we could unload.....we were going to ride to the cabin by Adam's Lake (which I have done before and it's a beautiful ride). I was really disappointed because we got 1 1/2 miles down the trail and could go no further! There was a huge tree laying across the trail and there was no way our horses could get over the tree or go around it in the bush....so we had to turn around and come back. This being on June 25, a Sunday I would think that the trails would be cleared of any fallen trees for a weekend in the summer! I've ridden at Spruce Woods equestrian camp grounds many times and there has never been any trees across the trails, they were always very well kept.  
 
We sure wasted our gas and time driving down there and now I don't think I would like to in case we come across where it is impassable again like that....

Sorry you had a bad experience at the park.  
With all the wind we had in June, that tree might of just fallen. I hope you mentioned it to the park people so they could get it taken down.

we stopped at the office where we got the day pass and put in a complaint.....now I'm afraid to go there again in case it's like that.....

Try Lake William, cold clear water and the beach and camping is great. Worth a trip on a gravel road and great trails. No power but there is showers and some of the sites overlook the lake.

We were just at William lake. Sometime in the night thieves came in and stole a few items from our campsite while we were sleeping..

100% geese poo. Nothing much you can do, sorry to say.
