I know that the Vancouver weather is mild in Dec. Howeve, I am wondering how is the sight seeing looks like in winter? Places such as Stanley park or Capalino swing bridge. Will they still be attractive to go? Is it easy to use public transit to get around to visit various places in Vancouver? What is the best area to get hotel which is safe and would be able to visit most visitor attractions in Vancouver by walking or using bus easily? How about visiting Butchard garden in Winter? Does it worth to go? Any tip is appreciated!

wet and weather is mild but cool and damp. Butchard gardens is on Vancouver island..  
Van Dusen Garden is the one in Van.

Hello, we just got back today, was there from Wednesday until today(Monday) . Saturday was the first day we could see more then 1 mile. The weather was around +5 - +10 each day but very foggy.

I was there quite a few years ago. Was a short trip to visit my daughter so didn't have much time to sightsee. It was very damp. I still wore a winter coat, gloves and something over my ears. Downtown Vancover was nice with green grass, some flowers and holiday decor. Stanley Park had a small train that travelled through the parts of the park that were decorated. Warm enough to spend time outdoors just have to make sure you're dressed for it.

Lived there for a couple of years. It is cloudy and sometimes raining. If you get lucky and get sunshine be sure to get out nd enjoy it! T-shirt and shorts weather!

a mid weight fleece zip jacket (liner) fleece touque or beenie, fleece gloves and a water proof/wind proof shell. It is warmer, but damp, and can really give you the chills. You may not need it all, but you will need some. A good pair of foot wear, and you are set. I found an cotton scarf in my neck kept my core warm. Go and enjoy, it is so beautiful, besides, there is a coffee shop or restaurant on every corner, if you get chilly, stop in for a warm drink and carry on.

I lived in Vancouver for 25 years and I will say this about December...... RAIN.  
 
Usually every day, and 2-8 degrees. As others have said, it's not bitterly cold, but it will give you the chills.... Footwear Must be waterproof.  
 
Bus and Skytrain transit is expensive and poorly services the tourist destinations. I'd recommend ride sharing services there.  
 
I would never recommend anybody to visit there in any months outside of June, July, August, and September.  
 
It is a phenomenally beautiful city, but only for the 50 days a year that it isn't cloudy and/or raining.  
 
Science world is great in the rain, so is the aquarium in Stanley park.  
 
If the hills are open, I'd Helen's snowboarding or skiing in the local mountains as an excellent outing.  
 
Capilano suspension bridge, the bulk of Stanley park, and pretty much anything else outside will be 100% dependant on the weather of the day.  
 
Any hotel that is along the Skytrain routes will make things convenient for you to get to downtown, but please check trip advisor...... Some sky train stations are absolutely downright dangerous after the evening rush.

Is very similar to UK weather then in the winter months! Damp, grey at times, drizzly, rainy and foggy not that cold but it chills you to you bones!  
 
Thanks for the heads up. I was going to take a trip out there either this or next winter.
