Driving slower just because you want to will get you the result you are complaining about. Can you please do the posted speed limit...is hard or scary for you...please don't speed but please do posted speed limit. Some of us need to get to our destinations at proper and timely manor.

Speeding and driving unsafe is wrong but following posted speed limits to keep up with timed traffic lights and flow of traffic is proper driving.

And traffic flow? Come on. 5-10 KM. less is not affecting any flow of traffic. So if you, or anyone else need to get somewhere and my slightly-less-than-average speed is affecting that, then it''s simple: Leave Sooner

If your vehicle is doing 40km or less or if that's your perfered speed or top speed of your vehicle you need to post a slow moving vehicle triangle on your car or tractor to legally travel that speed and must be in the right lane if applicable.

60 in a 50 zone in the city, you should pull over.  
 
Please don't impede the flow.  
 
Us couriers have deliveries to make and the more of your kind that we 'run' into...well, those seconds you spoke of add up at the end of day.

So you think doing 80% of the posted speed is reasonable when driving conditions are good? Would you do 88 on the highway?  
 
Missing a light because you are doing 40 adds a lot more time and piles up a lot more traffic than you are stating.  
 
That being said, I normally shoot for around 55 in a 50, but I would never tell someone that is doing 50 that they need to go faster, or that anything less than 60 is unacceptable. I don’t expect other drivers to exceed the legal speed limit to accommodate me.

Going 40 is as dangerous as speeding 20 kms over the speed limit. The only reason one should be going that slow is if they have their hazards on, it is icy, snowy or especially rainy. “No person shall drive a motor vehicle at such a slow speed as to impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation or in compliance with law”

If you were doing 50, those same impatient drivers would still tailgate or want to pass. Don’t worry about those vehicles behind you, unless it is an emergency vehicle. People are impatient and think they are in a hurry all the time.

So I should change my schedule because you have an impossible time driving the speed limit? Sounds reasonable, sheesh. You would be surprised the amount of accidents that happen due to being overly cautious and going to slow. Do the speed limit or get off the road

40km/h? That's slow... drive 50-55km/h. If your gonna drive 40.. then park your car and walk.  
 
I have seen 30-40 km/h ppl running stops signs all the time. Not sure what their thinking?

If the roads are in ideal conditions (eg. not ice on it) and you are driving on the left lane going less then the speed limit, you will get honked at etc. , actually in some places, that's illegal.  
 
Within the speed limit, go with the flow of traffic. If somebody insists of trying to drive over the speed limit even if that's what the flow of traffic is, let them get pulled over by the police or laugh at them if they get stopped at a red light. Also, know where you are going before heading out.

Just reading through some of these comment, I have the feeling that there are some drivers out there that must just get furious when those flashing pedestrian lights come on, how dare they affect the speed and flow of traffic.  
There used to be a time when I could enter Brandon from the south on 18th and make it through the city without having to ever stop, and the speed to do it was below the posted speed limit. I think that if one tries it today you will find out that the same is true today, I don't believe that you can do it today.  
It must also infuriate drivers when traffic merges into your lane, and these drivers add to the flow in a lane resulting in not everyone getting through on the green light.  
If it is such a danger, that the drivers number and phone into the police and give the drivers speed, and your speed, they may also ask for your name, which is fair in my mind.  
As I sit here I do have to chuckle, just imagine if we did have a minimum speed, these boards would then have people on complaining that it was lightly raining and people were not driving at the minimum speed, thereby endangering all this who were at the minimum speed.  
We have laws and law enforcement officers, I trust they have the situation well under control, they also use discretion, which most times is a good thing.

It effects every vehicle behind you, When you drive slower then the posted speed limit you great a line of vehicles behind you. Then people get ticked off and try and pass causing a dangerous situation.  
 
If you can 40 km you can drive 50 km and so on. There is absolutely no reason that people cannot drive the speed limit( under good conditions). And if your getting upset at people honking at you , and flipping you off just speed up a bit.  
 
90% of Brandons traffic problems can all be solved if people just GO !!!

Most of the time I am in a vehicle, it's a matter of following 50 but having the majority go at 60.

I''d rather drive behind someone going 60 than someone going 40. 40 feels slow, even if the precious time lost is minimal. Going 55-60 vs 40 usually means you''ll hit the green lights. I wouldn''t say 55-60 drivers are "speedy" but I suppose it would seem that way to someone driving so slow.

actually did a show on traffic and while yes, if you and I are the lead cars and you're doing 40 and I'm doing 50 it's not a huge difference. BUT it's every vehicle behind you that is affected by your speed. Every last vehicle is now braking, driving slow, getting stopped at lights. In the show it was mainly showing rush hour freeway driving, but the lead car actually caught the rear car because of the affect it has as it cycles down the line. The more cars, the worse it gets.  
So it's nice that you and I would get to our destinations within seconds of each other, every poor person behind you is now several minutes late. If you want to drive 40, stay off main roads and travel the side streets. Be considerate of others! I sometimes wish I had the authority to pull people like you over and issue a ticket for impeding the flow of traffic and give you one for dangerous driving as well. Going too slow can and should get you a ticket, just like speeding does.  
And for you Don Brown....I am that person that sees someone walking to the lights and I start praying "please don't push the buttons" and when they do I pray "God, why do you hate me so"!! I also curse every stop light I get stuck at from 18th and Vic, all the way past 1st....EVERY DAY (no matter how fast or slow I drive). I have bad light luck and on a really good day I hit every light yellow, just as I get close and then I think I'm free from the lights and I have the 1 pedestrian hit the crosswalk light east of the hospital. I think to myself "all they had to do was wait 10 seconds till I past and they could have just walked across the road. But it gives me something to complain about, because the rest of my life/day is filled with great experiences and blessing (now if only my driving experience with slow drivers and pedestrians would be the same).

Don Brown, you, are the light in all this darkness of ignorance and arrogance. Thank-you! Anyone and everyone reading this needs to get something straight. I do not care about your schedule, and I a not in a hurry. If all you clowns are, too bad. How many times I get passed and roll up right beside them at a red light 7 blocks down. It doesn't help.  
And my 40 KM. travelling speed (usually), is not a personal restriction, or a cautious move, it's simply my leisurely cruising speed, which I travel when LEISURELY CRUISING. If someone is in a hurry, it's simple: I  
m not. They make bumper stickers saying: I May Be Slow, But I'm In Front Of You. Exactly!  
Anyone crying the blues about their comfort issues with various speeds, and having always needing to do the speed limit, and "boo-hoo traffic flow", I've got no use for your ignorance and narrow-mindedness

Dude! It’s not ignorance or narrowmindedness. You asked if you’re going ‘ridiculously slow’, and some of us actually gave you direct instructions from drivers manuals and you still didn’t listen. You just want an excuse to stand on your soapbox and complain. To challenge. Your ‘leisurely cruise’ can get you and others KILLED.

My question for the OP is WHY will you only travel 40km? Is that the top speed that you feel comfortable driving at, or are you purposefully impeding traffic?  
 
Are you doing 40km in 50km speed limit zones, and 60km in 70km zones (like 1st St), and 90km on a highway with 100km limit? Or are you driving 40km everywhere?

I posted a picture from the drivers handbook from MPI. It's from page 57.

All people can respond with here is "40 is slow! How can you only do 40?" Listen, it was a proportionate example. For those who ask, NO, I do not do it just to piss people off. For the 3rd time: I enjoy cruising, I'm a car enthusiast, and live a slower-paced life-style with simple pleasures, and my main one is driving my cars. So why on one of my preferred pass-times would I gun it everywhere? If one plays guitar, they don't go all out and play Metallica and shred picks all day long do they? No, sometimes they might just strum an easy-going Eagles tune every now and then. Same idea here.

Mr.Brett, it is time for you to give up your license if you can't or won't drive the speed limit under good conditions. My late father in law drove slow because of his age. He said that people could go around him. He did have his license revoked.  
 
Or has someone else suggested, stick to the side streets if you want to drive leisurely. It has something to do with "being considerate" for other drivers.

The perfect place for you would be Virden. Their speed limit is 40. Haha ;)

IF you want to drive on 40kmh.. and you love your car and driving.. How abouts you drive early morniings? or late nights.. when traffic flow is a lot slower.  
 
40kmh is way too slow for Brandon, no matter what street you drive, including side streets. Maybe use the back lane to drive?  
 
Maybe you should give up your car and drive a bicycle.

1st street north of the 1st street bridge is 70kmh. South of the bridge is 50kmh, until you pass Stewarts flooring after Richmond Ave then it turns to 60kmh.

Travelling at 80% of the speed limit means that, if cars are backed up behind the bottlenecks created by the slower drivers, fewer cars travel through any given point at a given moment. If that point is a bridge, like 18th Street, then it has less capacity. One way the public demands to create more capacity is by adding infrastructure. Infrastructure like bridges and additional lanes on roadways costs tax payer dollars.
