After many years not hunting for migratory birds I'm wanting to go out this year.  
Looking for suggestions for good areas, especially for geese. Within 45 min or so of Brandon. Are there any public/crown lands that can be hunted for birds?  
Any tips appreciated

Came back from riding mountain on weekend and saw hundreds between Erickson and Brandon. Not sure of Crown land but could get a map and call for permission.  
 
I just started last year and am hooked. Great sport.

You could also get in touch with the Brandon Wildlife Association to see what resources they have. They are always happy to help local hunters.

Brandon Wild life association does not have landownership maps you must go to the rural municipality officers Start with Rm of Cornwallis on the low road to shilo.  
 
Sent me in the right direction. Hope this helps others as well.

Your best bet will be on private land.  
Where do u plan to hunt ? Water or field ?  
 
Either way you will have to scout the birds to see which field or water they are using. No use rolling the dice and hoping birds show up !  
 
Stock up on landowner maps. Try repromap on the web. Out of dauphin. All the Mb maps. Quick shipping.  
 
Areas close to Brandon...west, Alexander...rm of whitehead I believe  
North, minnedosa or rivers area, not sure of RM. northeast, brook dale area is good as well.  
 
Be courteous to landowners. Most will grant permission with a face to face meeting and a handshake.
