while out metal detecting dinsdale park, in the bush. I came across an old building site. brick, blue and white tile, miscellaneous old metal bits..etc.  
 
 
what used to be this building? its in the bush kinda beside 18th.

by 1st street. not 18th lol  

Like the outline of a foundation etc? Or just bits n pieces? I know they used the remains of old buildings including that old grand hotel on princess to shore up the banks of the river....maybe some of it washed up during all the floods?

its a demolished building. theres piles and piles of old brick. and scattered about is pieces of blue and white tiles......I dug up old lightbulbs, bits of metal pipe, etc..

Maybe an old CPR building or an old farm building. Both are in the area.  

I find it odd nobody knows? o well Ill dig up the past one piece of metal a time I guess haha. (found a 1912 silver coin yesterday)

but its not hard to find. if you know where the canoe portage sign is at dinsdale, its just east of that in the trees. theres nice little blue and white tiles everywhere. found ornate decorative whatsits, old bells or similar, many many bullets and bullet casings.

i was wondering if it could have been an old trading post at one time?

Believe it or not, there was a gas station down there years and years ago. White building with red and blue trim, I think. Could that be it?

that's the second time ive heard someone say trading post.

Meanwhile in Grand Valley with expectation of the railway, the town began to boom. Regular voyages were made by steam sternwheelers to the city, each bring more and more settlers.[15] In the spring of 1881, General Thomas L. Rosser, Chief Engineer of the Canadian Pacific Railway arrived in Grand Valley. It was Rosser's job to choose the townsites for the railway. Rosser approached Dougald McVicar of Grand Valley and offered him $25,000 for the railway in Grand Valley. McVicar countered with $50,000 to which Rosser replied that “I’ll be damned if a town of any kind is ever built here".[15] So instead Rosser crossed the Assiniboine river and built the site of the railway on the high sandy south of the River, two miles west of Grand Valley. So the site was then moved to a site just west of today's current First Street bridge in Brandon. A shanty had been built there by a man named J.D. Adamson, and it was on this quarter section Adamson claimed that Rosser chose as the townsite for the CPR Railway and named Brandon.[15]

Well, my first thought might be an old washroom that had existed in the park at one time. I have no idea what was really there. I wasn't here back then.  
 
I can only base this on things that I've been told by some "old timers", as I'm not at all familiar with pre-1975 Brandon. The old gas station sounds logical though. I mean, bricks, blue and white tile, kind of fits with it being a gas station. According to what I've been told, there were businesses located along 1st Street in that area. I was told that CKX was located down there at one time.
