The one on Victoria Ave where McDonald's is used to be Canadian Motors and there was another Ford delership where Superstore is and it was Wilton's. Wilton's turned into Kelleher  

was the dealerships name. There was another car dealership where superstore is now and it was called Wilton's. The giraffe in the shoe store was in a store between 8th and ninth on Rosser and it had mens shoes on one side and ladies on the other. The giraffe had a set of steps beside it so the kids could climb on it. can you imagine having that today ...

I can't pinpoint the exact building just remember across from the town centre on Rosser

The Red Apple was right in front of the Town Center directly across from the bus terminal. Its now a small parking lot.

Where the public library is currently was Eaton's a long time ago.

 
The hot tub store at 18st close to Richmond, used to be The End of the Roll

Yes the public library was Eatons! Great place back in the day!  
 
Before Walmart was in the mall it was Woolco  
 
The old fields was zellers was Kmart

What was where Superstore was put up, was it residential or commercial?  
 

The town centre used to be The Gallery  
 
The empty building next to West End Sobey's was Fields, before that, Zellers, before that

The strip mall on Victoria Avemue where Faders is used to be A&W.  
 
Sears on the North Hill was Princess Auto.  
 
Clay pot Cafe used to be Robins Donuts, and before that was the Suburban Restaurant.m  
 
Farm Credit Canada used to have strip mall that had a bakery, a convenience store and a laundromat.  
 
Forman Honda used to be CDC Leisure.  
 
Revenue Canada used to be Canada Post  
 
The Remax Building used to be the Greyhound bus station

This has turned into a fun read even if it's helped remind me how long ago it was that I was a kid  
 
A few more that I don't think have been mentioned....  
 
- when I used to have my office in the basement of the Chamber of Commerce building, some folks with longer memories than me used to know it as "The old library"  
 
- Green Acres Grocery used to be right by Tasty Spot aka Tastees, in the area where Kuipers now is. Hoping someone can refresh me on the history but I want to say there was a fire in that area?  
 
- speaking of fires, Playtime of course is where the prev incarnation of Lady of the Lake was  
 
- Prairie Firehouse used to be..... a Firehouse  
 
- Where Superstore is now used to be EconoMart  
 
- Someone correct me if I'm wrong but believe the strip mall on Rosser that has Keywest Photo, McPhail Travel used to be Bi-Way (oh the school years Bi-Way jokes that kids used to crack). After that it became the Red Apple Clearance Centre.  
 
- Also on Town Centre, I remember Hans Christian Toys being a big deal to stop into as a kid  

The police stationon Vic used to be safeway, and some where in that area used to be the wheat city arena, either there or in the spot were Superstore is

On Rosser and 5th(?) where Fabricland is now-I LOVED the Bi-Way!

The shoe store where the Double Decker is now was Richmond Shoes

Cant remember the name, but where Leech Printing is on the north hill use to be a roller skating rink.  
 
Where Robins Donuts is today at the corner of 10th and Victoria, there was a small strip mall there until a few years ago which also had a Robins Donuts in it. There was also a Robins Donuts in the strip mall at the corner of 8th and Victoria where subway and money mart is and I think there was also one in the strip mall Coffee Cultures is in at 1st and Victoria.

Church at willodale and 26 in the early 70s was a grocery store,and The little italy pizza place,with a barbershop on the 26th street side.The waterworld store across the street was a gas station ,i think a texaco ,,,then a convenience store.The funeral chapel on 18 th street by toyoto was the circle 8 drivein.munroes esso was on victoria ave beside the old a and w ,with a great car wash...the coop store was across from the firehall on princess.

Rink was called wheelies

on Queens, I think is a now a Sushie Rest?

Leech printing was Wheelies Roller skating, Mor-Tec electronics? On first street was JLA food store, Subway on 18th street was a REALLY good Robins Donuts, The Burger Ranch was on 18th street south near Little Chiefs, Green Acres Drive Inn was a little bit north and east of 1st street north behind the new semi truck business..How about the old Glenorky Ski hill on grand valley road west of Hwy1,the old Thunder Mountain Water Slides on the same road just east of Hwy 1.. God times at all these places!!

Eatons was on 7 th st & Rosser. It had doors on Rosser and another on 7 th. Was on the west side of 7 th.  
McLeods Hardware was across the street on 7th. It also had doors on Rosser and on 7th.  
 
The public library is where the Coop grocery store used to be. I can't remember what was there before that.  
 
St Michaels Academy use to be in the 500 block on 1st. on the east side.  
 
Earl Haig School was where the Lions Manor is in the 400 block on 1st.

Superstore is where Wilton Motors used to be. They had the north end of the lot.  
Sw corner was Dinsdale Cartrage a moving company.  
Se corner was Frank Lawson & Sons. The Cockshutt dealership. It was a machinery storage lot and they later built a workshop on the lot also.  
Their offices were on the next block south and the tire department (Firestone) was in the south end of the building.  
I think the Velvet Dip has always been on the ne corner of the Superstore lot.

The toy store in the basement of the Massey Building.  
 
Compusmart were Best Sleep Centre is.  
 
Galaxy Computers where the northhill Pizza Hut is.  
 
Aunt Sara's were Lee's Buffet.  
 
Source for Sports was were CAA is now.

What was the name of the restaurant that used to be in that parking lot? Long before Vern's. I just remember going there as a kid, eating peanuts and just being able to throw the shells on the floor.  

Bakery was on the corner of 26 and Victoria,along with a small convenience store,where the FCC is nowThe Suburban as mentioned was across the street.Canadian motors was the car dealership,then the Rcmp building ,and then CKX tv station.

Used to be on Princess Ave where The Dock is now  
 
Cook Lumber used to be on Park Ave where Pantages is I believe.  
 
Used to be an Esso gas station where new A@W is and one by Earl Oxford on Victoria.  
The 2 Turbo gas stations one on 26th and Willowdale and one at 34th and Vic

Was where the peanuts were tossed on the floor.  
 
The superstore lot had lots of stuff there. I remember Econo-mart, Lawson and sons, Wilton Mercury and I think Ready Oxygen.  
 
The Bi-way used to be Scott National Foods. It was a distribution place like GFS. My mom used to work there when I was a kid.  
 
The Brick used to be Sears I think and it went all the way through to Rosser as well. I remember going to the children's library in the basement of the Chamber of Commerce building and picking up groceries at the Co-op/library in the parking lot. Used to be sent out on a conveyor belt set-up. Damn I'm getting old!

If I am not mistaken, it was Sears not McLeod's that had a door on Rosser and one on 7th. The catalogue was on Rosser and the discount centre door was on 7th street. I do remember the footprints on the floor of McLeod's.  
 

The previous Kelleher Ford location on the North Hill originally opened as Wilton Ford Truck Centre,. It's now a mobile office manufacturing facility.
