and before that it was a pool lol

I thought Penningtons was cdc or maybe cd distributers. Something like that. They had a catalogue and you would go in and make your order and wait for them to bring it out to you.

There was a grocery store in the town center parkade beside the old Eatons entrance

I remember The Met, Kresgees and Woolworths down on Rosser. One was where the bank of Montreal is, one was near 8th and Rosser, the other is a blur. There was a pharmacy with dentist upstairs, I think it was the Clement block, down on Rosser too.

There used to be a public washroom downtown, I think it was near where the TD bank is

The travel lodge used to be the Canadian inn lol with a pool
The golden perogy used to be where the dock is. Before the dock was Clancy's and miss qs
Or where the water slides were
Is curb park still around? Lol
Zellars when it was in the town center
Gravity and I think it was occ before that? Idk none of those bars lasted long on 5th
Or Vinnie's pet shop idk what's there now
Also the exotic pet corner
Warlock tattoo used to be where abco pawn is
The old cop shop on 10th that's now an old folks home lol the list goes on and on

It was originally a burger joint that had 19 cent burgers I think it was called Scotties or something like that it was before McDonald's came to town.

Was on the other side corner of 25th where the strip mall is now it was a drive inn right on the corner, can remember going there in my mum dads 53 ford half ton and getting the Baby burger and baby root beer in a miniature glass mug

I remember the fun shop and buying ladyfingers firecrackers and ones that were about two inches long that if drilled into the ground or coverid with dirt gave a nice little explosion. One thing that hasn't been mentioned was the refinery that was north of the cemetery in the area of Tim Hortons.

on the corner of 9th and Lorne? It had an upstairs. Also another one on the corner of Park and 18th where Pizza Hut is. Were they just called "Pizza Place"?

I remember the refinery,where Petro Can is 18th and Richmond was always amazed as a young boy by the flame from them burning off of the waste gases that ran 24/7, and I can remember when some men where overcome while inside one of the tanks and had to be rescued some might have died dont remember that clearly.

At the corner of 6th and Princess there was a dodge/Chrysler dealership called Binkley Motors then it changed to Radics.

On the north hill where Vision Electronics and Extreme Electronics use to be was once a dance hall, but I cant remember the name.

On the corner of 17th Street and College there was a decorating/wallpaper store called Rooms Alive. Not sure what's in the building now though.

Im sure I will think of some more.

Mmmmmm......... the CINNAMON BUNS!!!

Anyone remember High Voltage? Upstairs in the building directly West of Hakim Optical. Awesome arcade!

Vision's and Extreme was Harry's Ukranian Kitchen

There's a custom counter place where Rooms Alive was. They also had a location at 25th & Vic "

I use to work there. Not Kelliher, maybe changed after Canadian motors closed

Canadian Motors was were Giant Tiger and McDonalds is today. The RCMP building is now Guild Insurance and the CKX building was always CKX, but now is Sunrise Financial, Bob FM, and The Farm.

The empty building behind Lady Of The Lake use to be Sobeys Cash & Carry....

My understanding is the building has been lease and won't be empty much longer....

Where Brandon School of dance, Empower Boxing and Ki-Rin Taekwon-Do club is on 10th street(100 block),use to be a bowling alley called Recreation Lanes and Pizza Place was also in the building I think.

Where the Global Market is at the corner of 12th street and Rosser is today use to be Perth's Dry Cleaners.

Where Eleanor Kidd Garden's is today was at one time the Brandon Humane Society.

At the corner of Hilton Avenue and 18th street where there is Co-op gas station now, was a one time a motel.

Where the Samaritan House Food Bank is on Pacific, use to be the MTS fleet services garage and then a woodworking store.

Where the Ashley Nuefeld softball complex is on Parker Boulevard, use to be the Burns meat plant and Burns Meats also had a rendering plant on the north hill where the Husky truck stop sits today.

Literally walking around the streets of town in my head as if it was 25 years ago. Love to hear from someone that could do the same as if it was 50+ years
If anyone wants to cheat, I remember there used to be city maps printed that showed the location of various sponsors throughout town.

Thanks for the correct jordynsdad, memories just a little foggy on some of these that go back a while. It was JLA at the spot where Kuipers is and JLA that I gather had the fire. Green Acres Grocery was part of that same block, I think the building where Ficek Insurance is now.

Few more:

- Great Canadian Bagel used to be in the building on Victoria Ave that's now an accounting firm. What I'd give to have that kind of bagel variety today.

- Town Cinema was on the block North of the Town Centre, I think where the bus zone is now? The whole dynamic of going to Venice House for a pizza, then down the street to the Strand or Town Cinema for a movie made for a lot of memories

- Doigs on 10th st on opposite side of Strand (lot of memories of visiting my gramma who used to work there)

- Someone earlier mentioned Clay Pot's location building being an earlier restaurant. Was also a Macs and I want to say a Robins Donuts?

- Great Canadian Video in the mall where former Verns is now

- We R Video on East side of 26th between Park and Brandon Ave where there's a pawn and loan store now

- Microplay in the same mall that now has Joe Beeverz and Bulk Barn

(In an era where you just click and buy games in a few minutes my son is probably going to think I was crazy as a kid for having mom drive the circuit of all of these movie stores just to see if they had the right game to rent )

I remember when We-R-Video was on the 500 Block of Princess in the basement of an apartment building I believe (Beside where KFC was), before moving to Victoria ave (Where Blockbuster was and now Coffee Culture) before moving to 26th street. Great times as a young kid going to the movie store.

The drive in south of the city that is now a trucking company and Yaegers furs that was located on the Rosser corner across from the bus depot.

And someone mentioned A & W on Victoria Avenue & 26th. Yes it was a drive in and the girls came out on roller skates.

Plus does anyone remember that the Keystone grounds had a mini zoo?
