I miss barnacles bar and cues that used to be on the 9th & queens (now apartment buildings).... Speaking of which the dock used to be clancys which used to be miss Q's which was at one time a car dealership I think

Before Barnacles, it was the Red Fox lounge. Prior to that, it was the Twin Pines Motel.

Does anyone remember the fort that was on the northhill at 18th street and Braecrest Drive where Grand Valley Church sits today? I remember going there as a kid, but I have no idea why. I also remember they tore the Fort down but left the sign up for quite a few years after it was gone.  
 
I also remember there was a big building on 26th street just north of the CP Rail tracks and I remember going there as a kid to play and watch soccer. The building was torn down at some point and now there are apartments and condos on the land. Could be wrong though.

Someone mentioned the Anglo refinery which had a restaurant where Humpty's is now on 18th and Richmond, but across the corner where Shoppers Drug Mart and KFC is , there used to be the office building for the Anglo refinery. I think it came down for the restaurant that was built there in the 70's. Where Kullbergs is now was once a Safeway as well as a lumber yard.

Kokanos in the basement of Scotia Towers...then I think it became Albert's? Not too sure what it is now.  
Aqua Dry Cleaners where Five Guys is now outside the shoppers mall... It was Moore's Clothing before Five Guys I believe.

Before it became Fitness Quest and moved into the Town Centre there was a women's only fitness centre called Isis. Can't remember where it was located, but it had a small indoor pool for aquafit.  
 
Who would have thought back then what the name would be associated with now.

Loved Kokanos & the Suburban ( pro a ly spelled those wrong. Excellent food!  
There used to be a Chinese restaurant right on Rosser but darned if I can remember the name.  
I worked at the Royal bank 8th Rosser in the 70'same ( ya, I'm old ) efore the Town Center was created. We had going away suppers at Suburban or the Prince Eddie dining room. I would run after work & stop at Fedorick Grocery for food , then stop in to see Mr.Pass at the Fun shop. Still have my fridge magnets from there.

From my younger days (mostly 50s and 60s) in the area of town I was most familiar with:  
 
I never knew the name of the place (I cheated and looked it up in an old Henderson’s Directory) Brandon Machine Works, an old machine shop that burned down when I was very young. I used to sneak into the ruins and poke around. Eventually they built the A.N.A.F. club there, north of 14th and Rosser.  
 
H.E. Wright Implements, where People’s Market Place is today.  
 
Brandon Paint and Glass on the SE corner of 16th and Rosser. Brandon Support Services is there today.  
 
Hambley Hatcheries (chicken hatchery) on the north side of Rosser between 13th and 14th. there’s an insurance place and some other business there now.  
 
Fredrickson Motors (VW Dealer) on the SE corner of 10th and Louise where the city hall parking lot is today.  
 
Buck’s Soda Fountain at 10th and Louise where Pizza Express is now.  
 
Brandon City Police Dept. at 7th and Princess where the Old Co-op store, Brandon Library, Converges, and now Brandon’s Civic Building is now.  
 
Brandon City Police Dept. on the east side of 8th St. in the 200 block in an old YMCA building.  
 
Brandon City Police Dept. in the basement of our current City Hall.  
 
Roco Gas Station, 5th and Rosser, where Knight’s Inn beer vendor is today.  
 
Plains Western Gas at 16th and Rosser. MTI building today.  
 
Palladium Dance Hall at the NE corner of 14th and Rosser where Vineyard Community Church is now.  
 
Imperial Taxi between 11th and 12th on the north side of Rosser. Diamond Edge Glass there now.  
 
 
 
 
 

Where Princess park is today is the site of the old City Hall.

Behind McDonald's on Richmond was Pic-A-Pop  
Spent so much money as a kid there. Remember the old food court in the mall. It wrapped around and in the corner was an arcade.

Green Acres Drive Inn. Lucky Star Drive In.

Esso gas station west of Husky on Transcanada.

Kullberg's used to be Revelstoke Lumber.  
 
I remember when that used to be a Safeway.

As previous mentioned before Superstore there was economart. There was also an econmart where the Sobey's at 34 th is. You picked up a wax marker and marked your prices on items.  
 
There was also Hudson Bay before Zellers in the Gallery.  
 
2 Farm Kids used to be Nutters and before that Bunsmaster. I miss Bunsmaster's pita buns.

Was where Blue Moon Water is now, after that it became a Turbo gas station. Suburban restaurant was where Clay Pot is. Double Bar S restaurant was tore down to allow Bulk Barn strip mall to be built. Uncle Willy's Buffet was where Bonanza used to be beside FPC. Toros drive-inn was where Memories Funeral Home is now. Astoria Pizza on N/E corner of 26th and Victoria..to mention a few more

is in the location of a Texaco, service road off 1 and 10. Then further to the east was another drive-in theatre.  
 

Where Komfort Kitchen is now, there was a smaller restaurant called Princess Cafe. The Forbidden Flavors at 18th and Brandon Ave was Frank's Chicken. And going way back, there was a candy store just south of the hospital on Russell Street that I remember crossing the tracks at least once a week with a friend to visit.

Remember on Rosser ,where the "new chicken delight is now".there was a Texaco gas station where my dad got his oil changes at,Chrest dry cleaners were close by and there was a Taxi company there too,,but cant renember the name.

Safeway? on 6th and rosser where the bus depot is now. I remember when it started on fire '79? I was helping move cars away from the building.

On 34th and Victoria used to be Ultiamte Computer works  
 
The Esquire barber shops new current location used to be Cyber Junkies and Esquire was where that other hair place was.  
 
Blu used to be Gullivers Grill, and prior to that (as others have mentioned) was Moxies.  
 
Western Financial Group on Park and 18th used to be Rogers Video, across the lot on the other side was BLockbuster (where Koch is).

were Value Village is.

Where Shoppers Drug Mart is on Victoria avenue east, use to be where the Stans Fine Foods Grocery store was before they moved to first street and the old store was torn down.  
 
Where the Wheat City Veteraniary Clinic is on First street north, was at one time a drive in and ice cream shop. There was also a minture golf course, batting cage and go cart track beside it.  
 
Where Pauls Hauling is on Richmond, was a very long time ago a landfill.  
 
On the north hill there was an Esso gas station and restaurant where Maxim Truck and Trailer sits today.  
 
Where A&W is at the corner of 18th and Queens, was at one time a gas station and there was also a Coop gas station across the street in the parking lot of the strip mall where Joe Beavers is and Bulk barn.  
 
There was also a Temp gas station downtown at the corner of 4th street and Rosser which had a drive thru car wash.  
 
And last but not least, there was a shell gas station and repair shop at the corner of 18th street and Rosser where a strip mall sits today. Back in the day Brandon went thru gas stations like most people go thru shirts.

-Burgess Foods on 6th Street which is now Kellington Flooring.  
-Stans Fine Foods on Victoria Ave where Shoppers Drug Mart is now.

Where Rideau Care Home is in the east end, use to be a jail. The building that the jail was in, is the very back building.  
 
Where C&C Rentals is on Park avenue, was at one time a welding shop called Hamilton & Jones.  
 
The City of Brandon use to have a maintenance garage/yard and bus terminal on Rosser avenue easy by the Green Spot before they moved to the current location on Richmond.  
 
Also at the corner of 13th street and Richmond there was a fire station back in the 70s and 80s.

There used to be a party store on 8th or 9th street by the 7, but I can't remember the name of it. I did think it was a magical place to go though.  
 
10th street block held some great places: Huggies bowling,Timothy Beans, The Strand, Frenzy's clothing store.  
 
Or Alesso's pasta that was "My Apartment (Caribbean food) before that it was Mano's and before that I don't know.  
 
What was the name of the Bistro place on Rosser? I think it's apartments or an eye glass place now. It used to have incredible seafood. I think it was a J name.

Toy Land was in the same spot as where National Exchange Pawn Shop sits today on Pacific Ave.

Rhodo's Restaraunt on Rosser Ave. DK's on 18th where Herbal Magic is now. Recreation Lanes was the other bowling alley on 10th Street, Triffons Pizza used to be located right across the street.

was upstairs on Rosser and had great food and atmosphere.
