A truely great American, a person who gave his all for his country, and a politician that had common sense, compassion, humility and was a hero in so many ways. He was old school, where honesty, integrity and honor defined what a person was, even as a Canadian I will miss his presence.

would have been a great president. Integrity, honor, common sense and humility - a truly decent person.

I have a lot of respect for a politician who will not just tow the party line.

He stayed in the political "sphere" far longer than most would have. It was not a power thing or a me thing. He made a difference and was still making it. That country just lost a politician with near balanced views. We need more of them. R.I.P.

I didn't agree with everything he stood for or did, but the man had integrity and earned respect. It was refreshing to see a politician who would put the welfare of the people and his country above and beyond something as petty as party lines and personal conflicts. All countries could use a few more people in government with those attributes.
