Trevor said "Yes, but I doubt you’ll see them significantly smaller. The Jacto Uniport 500 Planter (which is the one I referenced to earlier) still has a 470hp engine. They’ll burn leas fuel no doubt, but it’ll still be a lot of fuel. "
Will be more beneficial to follow progress by the major manufacturers. I think it was agco that was prototyping a front wheel assist hybrid drive tractor using a significantly smaller diesel electric power plant which then made it possible to eliminate hydraulic equipment functions replacing them with more efficient electric motors and to increase efficiency in the pro drive line using electric rather then mechanical drive. Small efficiency gains are what will reduce our footprint and reduce dependancy on fossil fuels along with changing agricultural practices.
The Uk government is already committing to farmer buy outs and ‘rewilding’ and reforestation of agricultural land , expect to see more of this in the future.
