McCain names 44 year old woman as VP pick
8/29/2008 at 2:26 PM
I had a feeling MCain would do this! He is a smart man, and is hoping to sway the Hillary Clinton supporters with his pick of a woman for his Vice President pick.
From CBC news:
" Republican presidential hopeful John McCain introduced Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate at a rally in Dayton, Ohio on Friday. At 44, she is a full generation younger than McCain, whose campaign has been dogged by concerns about his age.
Palin is a self-styled "hockey mom" and political reformer who took office in 2006. She has a strong anti-abortion record that is in line with Republican orthodoxy, whose support McCain needs to prevail in the national campaign. "
I agree with what Adam has said in previous posts, that if the Republicans end up winning this election, I will be very confused as to what our neighbors to the south are thinking. The price of a barrel of oil has gone up over $120US, the United States has accumulated it's largest deficit by far in history, and the economy is failing terribly under Bush's administration. Given all that, and since it's a two party system in the USA, I am surprised that the democrats don't have 90% support.
I think McCain made a brilliant choice in selecting a younger woman who describes herself as a "maverick" for his VP pick, but to me it shouldn't matter. Woman or man, black or white, something needs to change in the way that things are being done in the States for the general good of the entire world.
