Jon Stewart destroys Newt Gingrich
9/4/2008 at 1:40 AM
Not sure if any of you follow Jon Stewart or Colbert, but I freaking LOVE them, both play their roles perfectly, and Stewart singlehandedly destroyed the political hacks that were Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala on Crossfire(check Youtube for Stewart on Crossfire, the show was canceled soon after).
Anyways, today, Newt Gingrich is on Stewart, and he brings up something about Palin, and the exchange went something like this:
Stewart: "I want to talk about something that is close to me. I have a daughter, and Sarah Palin and McCain are saying that the daughters pregnancy is nobodies business, but at the same time, Palin is on the record as saying that she was proud of the CHOICE that Bristol made to keep the baby, but at the same time, she is on record as wanting to outlaw abortions, even in rape cases. Isn't it kind of hollow to be proud of your daughter for making the decision, but at the same time, making it so that other girls don't have that choice?"
Thats not a direct quote, just the gist of it, but Gingrich stumbled through a half cooked response.
1. Is this not a great point by Stewart
2. Isn't it a sad state of affairs, when it comes to Comedy Central to ask the hard questions.
3. If McCain somehow wins this election, how about Colbert/Stewart 2012?
